Wow Roland Lazenby wrote this article? He's actually well connected. I'm not surprised by this. If LeBron wants to win he should sign with the Lakers and an owner who puts winning above everything else. Kobe-LeBron-Gasol-Bynum-Artest jesus
WTF? Asshole much? This was an article. Written by a reporter. About the Lakers. Last time I checked, every report, ridiculous or not, is fair to put in a Laker forum. If you wanna know what I think about this, I think it's logistically possible and, personally, don't want that cocky mofo on my team. Now I know what to expect when YOU come on this thread. Smug and demeaning replies.
The funny thing is, you probably don't even know the CBA rules well enough to know that we'd have to send back contracts within 25% of LeBron's max one, throttling our core. But whatever hope we're cool, get back to me when you're done playing with your Cav fan brother front-runner
Both you people need to calm down. lakerman24 is not in the wrong at all for posting this. Any and ALL Lakers news gets posted here, ridiculous or not. Lakerman did not write the damn article, so if you have a complaint, email the writer. Lakerman just posted a Laker article, something that I, and other Laker mods post every day. Ridiculous or not, we post every Laker article, cause it creates discussion. So the only discussion that should happen here should be about the Lakers and not personal attacks at each other. Simple as that.
Yeah, we're cool. Just when someone comes at me, I go right back at them. And yes, I was very aware of that. I'm also aware that if LeBron REALLY wanted to win a championship, he could sign MLE (and that is not gonna happen). A sign and trade is the most likely possibility and, like you said, that would kill our core. Only thing that would make some sense is a Kobe for LeBron swap (CLE would probably want more than that though, even though Kobe would be making more $$$ than LeBron. Therefore we would probably have to take a bad contract or two).
If LeBron straight up tells the Cavs he wants to play in Los Angeles they'll have to work out a sign & trade with the Lakers. Would you guys deal Bynum or Gasol + Odom + Vujacic (expiring contract) for LeBron? Also assume Kobe re-signs with us giving us a new core of Kobe-Artest-LeBron-Gasol or Bynum Cleveland will still be very competitive with that frontline along with Jamison.
You'd have to give Bynum, Gasol and either Odom or Artest and draft picks + cash to get LeBron. Anyways, he's either staying Cleveland or going to NY. (for the Knicks)
Why would we have to give up both? That's completely overpaying. Trading the entire Championship frontcourt for one player LOL. Cleveland has zero control over the situation. For argument's sake let's assume they take Bynum since he's younger and Odom. Cleveland's roster would be. PG - Mo Williams / Delonte West SG - Anthony Parker / Boobie Gibson SF - Antawn Jamison / Jamario Moon PF - Lamar Odom / JJ Hickson C - Andrew Bynum / Anderson Varejao This team would contend in the East still.
That team would suck in the East, well they would make the playoffs anywhere from 5th to 8th. LeBron is the heart and soul of the Cavs just like Kobe is for LA, unless you trade Kobe for him, you'll have to give up more than he's worth just because he's LeBron. (remember half the league is after him, especially if it comes to making deals (trades) But again, either Cavs or Knicks.
I would give up any two combination of Gasol/Bynum/Odom plus whoever else they want besides Kobe and 10 future 1st round draft picks to get Lebron.
I would too, get Kobe and LeBron, and bring 10 retired guys from the street and you'll still win. lmao
You don't understand if LeBron makes it known he wants out of Cleveland and will only play in Los Angeles than the Cavs don't have any leverage. He is an UNrestricted free agent and can leave for nothing. The Lakers don't have to overpay to get him in Los Angeles. Ironically this is what happened to the Lakers with Shaq. They had to take a terrible deal from Miami because they didn't have any leverage in the negotiation. One scenario that would worry me is PJax, LeBron and Kobe ending up in New York next year.
You cannot afford to keep the current team plus 20+ mill for LeBron now can you? I don't think PJax will go to another team, I think another year or two with LA and he'll retire. (health reasons, age, etc)
