Penn was a finalist for the T-Wolves, wasn't he? Although, as others have posted, to get literally fired from this position takes more than just talking to another team without permission. What did Penn do? Is there some sort of agreement with Camby to return to the Clips that Penn was a party in constructing?
Weird. Talking about a GM position without permission or leaking some proprietary information would be my first two guesses.
Brian Smith has some info: http://www.columbian.com/weblogs/blazerbanter/2010/mar/16/blazers-fire-penn-source-says/ Still, I can't imagine PA firing Penn for being ambitious.
Well, there's a difference between ambition and being a back stabbing unethical asshole. Not that Penn is a back stabbing unethical asshole, I'm just sayin'.....
when 95.5 said we have breaking blazer news...i shat myself thinkking who is injured now...i had a huge sigh of relief, but this sucks for penn
They fired him so he could be the GM of the Clippers. Big deal. He was a prick anyways. We used him for what we needed and kicked his ass to the curb. Another Pritch-Slap if you ask me. Straight pimpin.
Hm. You don't fire people so they can get another job - you let them resign so you don't have to compensate them.
if you guys paid attention it said that it had nothing to do with KP, and more to do with paul allen/vulcan....so maybe it was an allenslap?
Unless you have violated a clause in your contract you will get compensated. It's why people talk about PA spending money to win now with the firing of Jim Mora and the hiring of Pete Carrol - he's spending money on two coaches since Mora's contract wasn't out.
It all depends on what your employment contract says, and why you got canned. Termination with cause usually means no severance. Termination without cause can include substantial severance, if that was part of the deal. barfo
