Hey, I am thinking about getting a new phone, right now I have the Rumor2 from Virgin Mobile. The only issue is that I don't want to be tied down with a two-year contract seeing as I leave the country frequently and I'm not down on buying International roaming and shit. The easy answer is to just stay with Virgin, or get a GoPhone with AT&T, but all their phones are shitty. Is it possible to purchase a nice phone with no contract and put in a Pay-As-You-Go Sim? I'm not looking to throw down $300 for a Smartphone and finding out I can't use it with a no-contract sim card. Anyone have any ideas?
get a T-mobile phone with UMA (wifi) calling. When you're out of the country you can hop on a wifi network and use the phone as if it were on a US network.
Boost and Virgin Mobile are for ghetto folks. Why not that other prepaid company, what the fuck is it called.....bleh.
Thanks man! Exactly what I was looking for! Do any other "major" cell phone companies offer this now?
I had a T-Mobile prepaid plan like 5 years ago. I don't think its anything new. I had Verizon prepaid, as well. Both have a variety of phones to pick from.
No, the T-Mobile one is definitely new. They usually have a shitty phones compared to their contract phones. I've been looking for weeks and this is the best I've found. I'd go with the Cliq as well, but that's partially because I'm lusting after Android's Google services integration (I have an iPhone now). I use Google stuff almost exclusively, so as soon as either the Nexus One or the HTC Incredible hit Verizon, I'm switching. Also, a co-worker has the CLIQ and he loves it.
I know 2 people who have the TP2, and they love it. I have a TP1, it's great but it breaks a lot. I actually just brought it in today because it was broken. I ended up taking a Palm Pre as a replacement.
