Pretty much a breath of fresh air. I hadn't known him to do anything strictly radio. At least in recent memory.

    Sorry, typo. Meant MB.

When Canzano was in China covering the Olympics MB and Kenny Vance filled for him. Great radio shows, they were telling old Blazer stories. So funny. Both those guys have been around the team a long time and have seen some shit. Reminded me of when Mychal Thompson and Kermit Washington used to host a radio show here.

MB would need someone like Vance to push him out of "nice guy Blazer announcer" mode but that show would be so much better than Canzano.

While MB is a tad of a homer, I like how the show today wasn't caller driven, and he had good guests. A little too blazer centric, but at least it wasn't Canzano's lame attempt at creating controversy.

I must say I am not a fan of MB doing the Blazer broadcasts because he is to much of a homer. However listening to him on the radio tonight I was impressed. I could listen to him all the time. Nice job MB!

Didn't MB start out with the Portland Fire?

I think he started doing radio updates on the sidelines for the Ducks back in the day. Then doing mid game reports for the Blazers radio. His first TV work was with the Fire with Anne Schautz.

I listened to about an hour of the show. I think MB did a great job. I'd much rather listen to him than Crapzano.

Dammit ABM! When you made the title "MP" I thought you were talking about Mike Parker! I love listening to Parker on the radio.

That was the golden age of Portland sports talk radio. Those two were GENIUS on the mic, they had a chemistry that was unmatched by anyone since. I wish someone saved tapes of some of those shows and could upload them.

    Indeed, those two were awesome.

    I miss that show.

I'm surprised that Mychal never made the jump to TV. When Rice finally retires or his liver gives out MT would be my choice to replace him.

I get the feeling that Kermit will be haunted by "the punch" until the day he dies. Very classy dude. I think he would have been a great assistant coach in the NBA. Very knowledgeable. Has worked and ran Pete Newell's big man camp for years. Funny how the NBA will welcome back former drug addicts but has blackballed Kermit.

MT and Kermit were awesome together.

However, MT has had shows on down here in LA for years (still does) and he's fucking awful. Knows fuck all about anything. The great part about the old shows was Kermit told him that he knew fuck all about anything.

    Kermit was the magic ingredient.

If I remember right he would occasionally fill in for The Snapper years back when Steve would be away. He was horrible then, as well. I can't quite remember if he was working alongside Eddie Doucette at the time, but if so that would have been a double-suck fest. Doucette used to drive me crazy.

Thompson is a Lacker. I have no desire to listen to a Lacker doing local sports.

bring back drug addicts? Sir, you don't know what you're talking about!

    signed,

    John Lucas

Although on a serious note, Kermit did continue to play for another what, 3 years? And made a comeback (or tried to) in the late 80's AND made an all star game after the punch.

He might be blacklisted, that's possible. But it also could be that Kermit didn't get a coaching job for the same reason Kareem did (and Clyde won't ever get one). He just doesn't have the coaching ability. Maybe he sucks at it.
