Ah sht, first he's getting tattoos, now he's doing drugs... The real laugher is the defense part. I must have blinked a lot when he showed his defensive skill against Jrich. I'd say we trade Ellis to somewhere as equally delusional. How about the Knicks?
How many other people on this planet can even dare say "Monta is better than LeBron"? Uh maybe his wife. I thought this guy was on the right track at the start of the year but man he's gone way off the rails and this is just another sign. You ever hear Duncan say how he measured up against anyone else? LeBron? No, because if you are good, you don't need to say it. Yeah, Monta, you're the 2nd best player on the planet, that's why they took a 36 yr old Jason Kidd instead of you for the All-Star game. You stay classy.
Don't forget how Starbury turned out all weird in the end. He was the #1 point guard in the league according to himself. That's why he failed out in the nba all-star skills challenge when he couldn't do the basic chest/ bounce pass that Kidd, Paul, Nash, Boykins, Deron Williams, and every REAL point guard can basically do. You ever see post entry pass from Monta into a big man? The guy sucks. I think Baron had to show him because his pass fundamentals were horrible. It ended up with the big man losing all the position he established. Half-court scorer. He's great. He gets his shot anytime he wants. As a passer, he still needs work in setting up plays. He does not have Curry's skill level in this area and we need good passing once we acquire that much needed big man. We can't live off pick and roll forever and small ball.
While we're all ganging up on Monta, he makes the same ass-brained 1-handed passes that he made in year 1. He's great, but he needs to recognize that there are other playmakers on the team. Specifically Steph Curry.
He's also racked up several double-digit assist games. I think his feel for his teammates has definitely improved. I wouldn't say his passing skills have improved much (e.g. one-handed passes), but his timing and assist totals have been much more impressive than before. Curry also makes those one-handed passes a little too often, but I'm not worried about him.
Not all 1-handed passes are bad. It's the top of the key, rotation, or skip passes -- when there's no need -- that's the problem. In the lane, in traffic, a quick dish or a finesse pass, those can be terrific. Curry makes a lot of good 1-handed passes, but only a few bad ones. The difference is, Curry will correct that. Monta probably never will (at least he hasn't in his 5 pro years).
This reminds me of me yelling at my cousin last week who threw a transition no-look, one-handed, skip pass from one side of the court to the other completely bypassing the guy in the middle (me) and the ball going out of bounds. And then he had the nerve to say, "was that my fault?" Would you agree that Monta's distribution, not passing perse, has improved over the course of the season?
Yeah DK, I do. I think he has worked to improve many aspects of his game, including being a distributor. It shows that he wants to get better, no doubt.
