Compared to our bench unit now, Bell is a scoring punch!:NOTMARIS:

For all of his faults - we are really missing Outlaw's scoring off the bench... which is not a real surprise. That kid is limited in what he can do - but scoring he can do.

If he is such a pussy that he is "reeling from the loss of Sergio" then don't let the door hit him in the ass on the way out. Reeling from the loss of Sergio. Ha ha ha ha ha ha.

He is what he is, and like it or not - it sounds like he is having problems with this. With that said - letting him leave without getting some asset(s) in return is a net loss. He might not be the best player in the world - but he is better than he has shown this year and he is an asset.

If he doesnt want to be here, then ADIOS RUDY!
There are plenty of other players who will appreciate the opportunity to play for the Trail Blazers. We have a great owner, great fans, and a good young team that should only get better. There isnt really many other situations in the league as good as it is here in PDX.

But were not. Rudy was drafted in the 1st round. That means Rudy's 3rd and 4th year are team options, not his options. It is very straight forward. He doesn't go anywhere, unless KP says so.

And this is why I advocated moving him in a consolidation trade

We still can. Just because he is unhappy doesn't mean he isn't valuable around the league.

Oh I agree, I just get the feeling we're going to see the Sergio phenomena repeat itself, wherein KP holds on just a little too long and the player as an asset instead becomes a liability and we'll be sending him off to some team with 3 million in cash for an early second round draft pick.

That could be. But fortunately for us we have 2 things going for us. Not many people watch Portland games around the country. Secondly, Rudy makes a sportscenter quality highlight at least once every few weeks, no matter how bad the rest of his game is going.

I've never thought that Rudy would be content to play second fiddle behind Brandon Roy for an extended period of his career. With Bayless and Webster both capable of minutes at SG, he's not an essential ingredient to the team's future. This summer will be time to move him for another ingredient that is more needed.

Maybe not "joe public" but opposing teams' scouts watch this team all the time and they have far more input and influence on trades and free agent acquisitions than fans ... unfortunately they've seen lots of Rudy this year.

You may think so. But you would be surprised. Hell I would have thought Zbo was untradeable back in the day, but what do you know, he got traded. The only way I can attribute that is that the east coast teams didn't watch him fat bo his way through games.

He was traded from New York too. Does no one watch East Coast teams too? New York is kind of a small market... ;)

Scouts are watching him, but so are team marketing departments. At any given Rose Garden game you'll see as many Fernandez jerseys in the stands as anybody but Roy. He's a very sellable player, particularly among women. And his frenetic style, big three pointers and open court game can still occasionally energize a dead arena.

We really should have dealt him last summer when he'd just set a rookie record for three pointers. Oh well.

We can still trade him for some value this summer, particularly to a bad team looking for ways to put people in the stands. We won't get as much as we could last summer, but he still has some value.
