That's pretty stupid. Every GM in the league would have picked Oden.

11 points and 5 assists per game is now what qualifies one as a "terrific player"?! Really?

If every GM jumped off a bridge...

Again, life's not fair. All of those coaches would probably suffered the same fate too.

in 28 mpg? Sure. And how many 48/41/84 players on the league? Not many. That is efficient shooting. He's definitely beter than Bayless.

Unfortunately, I can't make it to the game tomorrow. I'm going to the Bones 100th Episode party.

I think it's a slight edge to Jack right now. If you consider the salaries, it's Bayless no question. Toronto's spending spree this summer was crazy. Jack's getting about 5 million per year until 2012/13.

What the hell does this mean? Are we going to let him walk as a restricted free agent?

He probably will never live up to the draft hype but he could still end up being a serviceable player for years. I don't understand why just because a player falls short of unrealistic expectations some people want the team to drop him irrespective of what we would get in return.

If he is injured the next 4 years but then has one year where he is a beast and we contend for a title I'll be happy with what we get out of him. Do I want more? You betcha! But it's stupid to completely chalk off an asset just because it's less valuable than you initially projected.

I think we're the only team with 4.

you were just listing seasonal PERs in another post in this thread, why don't you list them for these two guys? Okay, I'll do it for you... Jack 15.9 Bayless 15.0

I'd also suggest that age be considered if you're doing a comparison of the two. JB is just 21 years old while Jack is 26. JJ was a 4 year college guy starting his NBA career at 22 years old. In his 2nd year in the league Jarrett's PER was 14.5 which was the 2nd highest of his 5 year career trailing only this season... his career average is 13.8.

so better today? I guess... but overall a strong case could be made that Bayless is tracking well ahead. In his 2nd season in the league at an age Jack was still in college he's enjoying a season with a better PER then all but one of Jack's 5 seasons. If he improves only half as much next season as he did from last JB will be clearly the superior player.

if the thinking you're responding to ruled when Walton was with the club Portland would have no titles. Thankfully Greg has nothing chronically bad like big Bill had with his feet.

It's tough to develop chronic issues when you can't even stay on the court.

You can rationalize it any way you want, but the cold truth is we fucked up royally. Durant's doing this at 21, imagine him at 25. Meanwhile I wouldn't even be surprised if Oden was out of the league by then. This is going to haunt us for a long time.

    Green plays PF for them...

    The lineup would be...

    Westbrook, Harden, Durant, Green, Bosh

Top 3 starting lineup in the NBA, and all incredibly young. So yeah, they would have a shot at a crazy good championship run for many years.

Has the NBA ever admitted something like this before?

    http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wi.../nba_admits_mistake_on_miles_foul_of_durant/#

I just wonder if they would have done such a thing if that shot wasn't taken by a guy of Durant's caliber. The biggest issue now is that the refs don't give the Thunder bullshit make up calls. Just as sad is that they nonchalantly omit the fact that Durant got two free throws as a gift on the possession prior.

That's just like the announcement the NBA made after Steve Smith got hammered by Shaq in the lane, with the Blazers down by 3 points, and there being less than a minute to play in Game 7 of the WCF!

Why would the NBA even put this out about Durant getting fouled? Is Clay Bennett giving Stern free hookers as a reward for letting Clay fuck over Seattle?
