Then why did you give me a bunch of MJ quotes in a thread you created to criticize Roy? You're all over the place.
Whoa, Roy should not at all be criticized for that playoff series. Everyone outside of LaMarcus on the offensive end simply did not show up for that matchup for various reasons of simply not being good enough, bad offensive schemes, and good defense by the Rockets. Open people could not hit big shots except for Rudy at the end of game three or four on the road. He went against two great defenders and gave us a great shot in that series along with LMA after we blew the first game with a really awful defensive game plan.
The star player should want the ball. You didn't post the whole quote in which he said that if we win, he could care less. He's just about winning.
ABM seems to have a problem with Brandon Roy. An odd thread, to say the least. Is the old guy somehow connected to the team, or is he just blowing smoke out of his ass?
MJ always had a usage rate above 32% in his title years. Roy isn't even near 30%. Then again, Roy will never be MJ... what a stupid thread. Where do you find these people?
You gotta be kidding me. Roy came to play. Averaged 27 ppg in that series. We lost game 1 because there was not ENOUGH Roy. Then in Game 2, he carried us to victory. If Outlaw came to play in Game 6, we probably would've won the series. The playoffs are all about the stars coming to play and Roy delivered. Now we need the rest of the guys to step up and join him.
You clearly don't know what the fuck you're talking about. What a stupid thread. I hope you chalk this one up to some bad whiskey.
Well no we lost game one because we decided to put a single defender on Yao and he didn't miss a shot in the first half and the game was over - which was horrifying to watch after the last two weeks of the season showed you could shadow and front Yao and the Rockets would lose. While there are things most of us want to see Roy improve upon to help make him a better player and the team a better team, I just can't fault him for that series loss last year. He was right to ask for more players - hell, most of us did.
MJ always turned his game UP in the playoffs, not down. You know how the Bulls won the championship in 1993?? Because Jordan averaged 41 ppg in the Finals. Remember the Jazz series where MJ was sick? He stepped up and scored 40+. You're out of your mind, ABM. Roy was not the problem last year.
Usage, schmusage. Let me repeat the primary point once again for you: Many times late in games, Roy goes into that "iso" mode and the entire offense stalls. His teammates load the weak side and become spectators. To me, that's not basketball.
MJ averaged over 35% in usage rate in his title years, up from what he did in the regular season. Don't worry, though, ABM will be sure to criticize Roy's 33.1% from last year's playoffs, when nobody else but Aldridge could hit a fucking shot.
Bullshit. Check out Shaq's Finals averages when the Lakers won the title. Check out what Paul Pierce did in 2008. See above about Jordan in 1993. Some players can't handle the pressure of the playoffs. We are lucky that Roy isn't one of those players. He stepped his game up for the playoffs. We got off to a big lead in Game 6 but then Outlaw came in and bricked shot after shot. If Outlaw comes to play, we win the series in 7.
Oh no the sky is falling! Heaven forbids Roy thinks he should take more shots when in reality he doesn't take enough!!! What to think!
I figured as much. Facts be damned, it's ABM's opinion that matters! He started the thread, so he must be correct!
