I gotta go with the Beavs. I firmly believe that if we're healthy we will finally be in the Rose Bowl this coming season. James' senior season and Quizz possibly playing in his last season before going pro. Paea's senior season. Our defense has been impressive in spring drills and our O-line should be very strong. I think it's our year.

That's all great but it'll be very had having the most inexperienced starter on the team at the most important position.

DA, Moore, and Canfield all ended up being exceptional quarterbacks by their senior years but they had very rough first seasons and the team did not fair well.

    Ducks.

Aside from their QB, they have depth at almost every position. And speaking of the QB position, I think Masoli's replacement (who ever it will be) will do a pretty good job with that stable of running backs.

As to OSU, Riley gets more from his low talent base than any coach in the country. But I think they have too many holes to fill and a lack of depth. That said, I see them winning 7 or 8 games next year, but I see UO with 8 or 9.

The Beavs have the best offensive player in the conference (Quizz) and the best defensive player in the conference (Paea). They also have the best wide receiver and an experienced, talented offensive line. They have a brutal non-conference schedule, but if they get through that healthy they are going to be hell on wheels for the rest of the Pac-10 to deal with.

The Ducks should be solid, but their inexperience at QB will hurt them more than that position will hurt the Beavs as they rely on the quarterback to run as well as pass. The Ducks offensive line isn't as good as the Beavs.

I'm wondering if the Beavers aren't too one dimensional with Quizz.

It all matters at QB for either team. I put my money on Thomas personally.

I'm going to go out on a limb with my two predictions:

The Beavers will start off slow, and end the season strong, winning the CW.

The Ducks will start off with their fans convinced they'll win the National Title, lose 1 game and then people will break their ankles jumping off the bandwagon...have a few bad games and then finish the season strong and lose in the CW, but still go to a strong bowl game.

Or, something different will happen to both teams.

It's a tough call. I wouldnt be surprised to see the Beavs and Ducks both finish in the top 3 in the Pac 10.
QB is a major ?? for both teams. Hate to say it, but I think Thomas is going to be a stud and make Duck fans forget all about Masoli. I wish he was a Beaver!
    GO BEAVS!

If this is going to be based on the CW than Oregon State will be better

If its based on record, Oregon will have a better record....

They will be two even football teams with will have a couple hiccups because of their young QB's

The Beavers have a much tougher schedule next year. One of the toughest schedules in the country.

It's going to be a huge challenge for them. UO only has TN on the road- and they've been a bit down lately.

The Beavers led the conference in passing yards last season and Canfield's amazing 68% completion rate had a lot to do with that... OSU depends on their QB production plenty. The projected QB for both schools is a 3rd year Soph... plenty of questions to be answered there for both programs. As a Duck fan I take heart in Kelly's consistent raving about Thomas's potential to be a big time star in his offense. Of course he was the much more heralded recruit coming out of HS, but we shall see.

the Ducks offensive line isn't as good as the Beavers? Didn't the Beavs lose an all conference guy to graduation and have two projected starters currently out with serious injuries? Oregon's Oline started off slow last year as they were replacing 3 starters, but they sure turned things around... UO led the conference in scoring and rushing. They return most everyone and seem experienced talented deep and healthy.

The Pac 10 champs lost relatively few starters to graduation (4 I think) from last years club plus Masoli to stupidity. How many did the Beavers lose? The Ducks also had a tremendous recruiting year according to most who rate such things. Since UO won the conference by two games I fail to see how the Beavers somehow leapfrogged them. Here is what ESPN thinks early on. Obviously both fanbases are basing their optimism on some of the same things the "experts" are. Hopefully both fare well with injuries and we are privy to another great season :)

    This.

What a surprise, the fans of each team think their team is better!

I'm glad to see both teams are getting good respect early on, but it really is too early to tell. Both teams lost some key players and both will have new starting QBs. Plus we still have a lot of off-season left, and the way its gone so far for both teams, who knows what else could happen before opening kickoff.

As much as Duck fans want to see Thomas, I predict their starting QB will be Nate Costa. He understands Chip's offense better than any other QB, and though he's no Masoli, he is able to run. Don't forget, it was Costa who ran the ball for a two point conversion and a key 4th down fake against Washington.

After watching Quizz the last few games of the season, he really was underwhelming. You say they have such a talented OLine, then why was he so ineffective? UO and BYU both took him out of the game quite easily.

OPOY will be a race between LMJ, Locker, Foles, and possibly James Rodgers.

Paea is a beast and without looking at rosters, he probably is a top 5 defensive player, but the rest of the D I'm not sold on. OSU lost 2 starters in the offseason for personal reasons. Riley usually pulls a rabbit out of his hat, but they have a lot to replace again, so I'll take a wait and see approach with OSU this year.
