Did anyone catch the NBA TV "NBA Gametime" post game commentary with Eric Snow and Brent Barry? The host (Matt Winer?) asked Snow and Barry what they saw in an OKC/Laker series. Snow responded with "I'm lookin' at a 5-maybe 6 game series, then Barry responded by saying "I'm lookin' at a lot of friends in Seattle that are really, really sad right now. I hate to bring it up, but I had to." Snow and Winer looked stunned for a moment--like Barry had just got himself kicked off the show. I, for one, can appreciate the risk he took by saying that. BTW, great interview of Marcus Camby after the game. So cool and humble too!
No, he just had a moment of empathy for Sonic fans who have been robbed of the enjoyment of playoff basketball. Judging by the reaction of Snow and Winer, it wasn't a welcome comment.
Nice link, but it isn't the one they are talking about. Eric Snow played his first 2 years in the league as a Sonic, but Payton and McMillan were ahead of him at PG. Then Greg Anthony was added, so Snow was traded. Each of those guys has an Oregon or Blazer connection. Anyway, Snow should have some Sonic sympathy too. By the way, there were people from Seattle in Sonic jerseys at the game vs. the Thunder tonight.
The Seattle voters bear some responsibility for repeatedly not providing public support for a modern stadium and having shitty attendance. Key Arena is a dump still, cool of BB and I wish they were still in the NW STOMP
David Stern basically paved the way for OKC to leave Seattle. I personally feel that this is why OKC gets the reffing of the Lakers or the Celtics. Stern needs OKC to make a profit in OKC, and if that team slips, they will be the next Sacramento.
this Also the former Mayor, who instead of fighting for the team, let them walk for a small sum of money. If he would have fought for the team they'd still be there since one of the majority owners in Bennetts group lost 80% of his money and probably wouldn't have stayed on if the fight continued. anyway fuck these guys
WHAT?!?!?!? Have you seen that arena in the past 5 seasons? EMPTY! They have a bandwagon fanbase! They sold the place out for the 5 years they were good, that's it.
Exactly. IMO the two most rabid fanbases are Golden State and Portland, and I think Golden State even surpasses Portland. No matter how much that team stinks it up, their arena is sold out.
