So I'm trying to get some tickets on the resale center for tonights game, and all is

"Account ********* does not have the membership required for purchase. Please attempt to purchase again after obtaining a membership or switching to a different account that has a membership from the Profile page. "

This is my email address and credit card # for what I have always been buying tickets online for. anyone know how to get a membership?

Have you bought any tickets this season? I know when I go to the site, and am not logged in, it mentions having to buy a 1 dollar membership to buy tickets. Maybe that is the issue, you need to "upgrade" your membdership.

Nice. Glad you were able to get on there and get some tickets. Seems like last year it was alot easier. It's odd to me that not only do they take 10% of what I sell my tickets for, but that they also make people pay 1 dollar to buy tickets. Really? A buck. The 10% isn't enough.

313 Row A Aisle seats.. after order fees and 15% charge.. $27 a ticket.. which I just found out is in the purple section which is $25 for the night.. so I made a pretty decent deal for a last minute thing with good seats.

I think the $1 membership is just an inexpensive way of prevening fraud. They had to start charging 10% on the buyer as well to cover people buying with stolen credit cards. I guess some people last year got notices that tickets had sold, then informed later that it was not sold due to this. Glad it never happened to me.

So it is an order fee, plus 15% on top of what the listed price is? 6 dollar order fee. Ok, I can see that. But if you are buying 50 dollar seats, listed at 50 dollars, you have to pay 50, +7.50(15%)+6= $63.50? I know it's not ahorrible markup, but the real crappy part to me is, If I sell those 50 dollar seats, they take 10%, so I only make 45. So out of a 50 dollar pair of tickets selling, they make $18.50 off of it. Wow.

yeah I'm not too big on math but the listed price was $42 and I got them for 54 after the fees.

I was one of those who got stiffed on about $600 in tickets last year. I'm not sure why the fee was added--there has been a sharp decrease in the # of tickets sold there this year. Ebay, for goodness' sakes, can figure out that if someone bids, their card is charged for the item. I don't know why our team couldn't figure that out.

Wait, so they charge you 15% and 6 bucks, and take 10% off the top on my end. What an effing racket. :(

Exactly. So the 42 dollar tickets, plus 6 dollars(roughly 15%) and 6 dollar handling charge is 54. So they get 15% from the buyer AND 10% from the seller.

Still, I've been happy with not having to deal with meeting up with people to sell tickets. It's been a lot easier, and have sold a few tickets this season, so am alright with it. But wow.

Do your tickets always seem to sell? I am going to need to sell some tickets next year and was going to use the resell center rather than craigslist. Is it really worth it?

Last year was great. I generally sold every ticket I couldn't go to (mostly the M-Th games--I think I hit 15 total last year) and made just about enough (with the premiums for CLE and SAS) to almost cover the tickets for this year. This year, however, was horrible for that. With the new job, the reserve duty and the baby I've made it to 4 games (all W's, though) and have only sold 9 others. And those have been, by and large, in the last 2 months and for below face (which, with the 10% off the top, kind of hurts).

I'm on the fence about keeping them for next year. While I want to see playoff games, I'm not sure I want to deal with the Resale stuff in addition to the price hikes. (my tickets have gone up 80% in 4 years, and we've won 2 playoff games in that time).

Similar to the reasons I'm not in the STH pool... I only paid more than face once this year (by $5). I bought the premium games from the ticket office immediately after they went onsale. I bought enough for myself and enough Cleveland / LA extras that they paid for most of the other games I went to.

For non-premium games I still only buy off of Craigs List because I don't mind meeting up and the fees on the resale site are too high. Also, even if the game isn't sold out, I still buy off CL because I avoid the ticket office fees. If you don't have the time or persistence I can see why people would pay an extra $15-$20 to use the resale site, though.

The drag is this time of year when I'm scrounging around trying to find playoff tickets (which besides last year hasn't happened in a long time). At least last year I could guarantee myself tickets by camping...the online thing is a total crapshoot...
