I'm sure somebody has pointed this out already (and will give me the link) but I just wanted to remind everybody of how Chris Wallace signing Darius ("years of game left") Miles killed a big-ass chunk of our cap space and prevented us from signing... Hedo Turkoglu! So we were FORCED to MAKE DO with Andre Miller.

Thank you, thank you Chris Wallace and Darius Miles (wherever the hell you are). I'm sure Adrian Wojnowhatsisname will point this out sometime very soon.

cap space was not the reason we didn't end up with hedo.

I think you're both right in a way..... but I have a feeling that Hedo would have come here if we had upped the offer. The Raptors offered more money than we did.

The funny thing is, I didn't hate the idea of Hedo, but I had wanted Miller since midway last season. I'm still curious how things would have worked out with Hedo here.... I think he would have done well in Nate's system.

Perhaps. From what I gather listening to Tas Melas and JE Skeets all season on "The Basketball Jones" Hedo needs a disciplinarian coach to get the most out of him and Triano really didn't appear to demand much from his players (especially on defense). But by all appearances he seems to have gone into early retirement.

It might have been good for the first half of the season. But then Nic came back...

We'd probably have pretty close to the same overall record, assuming we were also somehow able to still sign Miller as well.

The big difference is that Batum wouldn't have gotten as much playing time, resulting in his budding reputation as an elite defender taking a step back. And of course we would be locked into Hedo for years to come.

Thank god we dodged that bullet.

I still don't understand why people think that Hedo would have played the same in Portland as he has played in Toronto. He's a better fit here and probably would have played much better than he has there.

I think it's more his attitude after inking the deal rather than fit. Better fit or not, you can't make him put forth more effort than he wants to, which seems to be next to none.

Right. Even if he would have been a better fit here, I'm still glad that we didn't sign a guy that "called in sick" to work :devilwink:

KP would not have offered more for Hedo, as he offered way too much as it was.

I am not a fan of Hedo, but we presumably could have afforded both Hedo and Miller if Miles had come off the cap.
