"U.S. military officials tell NBC News that the U.S. Army will court martial a lieutenant colonel who refuses to deploy to Afghanistan because he considers orders from President Obama to be "illegal."

Army doctor Lt. Col. Terry Lakin believes Obama does not meet the constitutional requirements to be president and commander-in-chief, because he believes (incorrectly) that Obama wasn't born in the United States.

Lakin refused this week to report to Fort Campbell, KY for deployment to Afghanistan, but instead showed up at the Pentagon, where he was confronted by his brigade Commander Col. Gordon Roberts, a Vietnam Medal of Honor recipient.

Lakin was informed by Roberts that he would face court martial, and his Pentagon building pass and government laptop computer were seized."

Good for the Army. The President's been the Commander-in-Chief (rightly or not) for over a year. Waiting until you're given orders to Afghanistan to drop the "Orders From You Are Illegal, Mr. Obama" card shows an element both of cowardice and fraud (he's been highly-paid as an LTC for that year-plus that the President's been "ordering" him to his desk job at the Pentagon that he evidently didn't have a problem with).

    Toss the book at him.

It's not my opinion, I was just remarking on the quote "Terry Lakin believes Obama does not meet the constitutional requirements to be president and commander-in-chief" that even IF the President had been born in Kenya or Zimbabwe or on Pluto, he's the Commander-in-Chief. You don't like it? Don't wait until the SecArmy sends you to Afghanistan to bitch about it.

FTR, I think he is a valid Commander-in-Chief and born where he says he was. If that needed to be said. Though Minstrel might point out "How does he know? Who here remembers where they were born?"

I understand you're trying to be open minded and fair, BUT "if" is clearly out of the picture. Unless the secret society government has a time machine to make fake birth announcements in hawaii

I'm not sure I'd ask that. He says he was born in Hawaii because that's what his birth certificate says. I don't think he's claiming first-hand witness account as evidence. ;)

Because where he was born is a matter of record. If you believe that Delaware is the state with the largest population, you believe so incorrectly.

the word "incorrectly" is unnecessary in a news story in reference to a belief, which is purely fictional and/or speculative to begin with. The use of the word makes this an editorial, not a news story.

Whether or not he was actually born in the United States is not an absolute fact.

    That's cool.

Personally I think people are asking the wrong question, sure the real Obama was born in Hawaii but the Obama currently in office is obviously a pod person.

Nothing is an absolute fact, except mathematical truths. This is a recorded fact. Just like the year President Kennedy was shot and other such pieces of knowledge.

The "incorrectly" is probably for the benefit of readers who have been living under a rock, weren't aware of this issue before and think that there's an actual question about where Obama was born.

It would be an editorial if the writer had given an opinion. He or she didn't, they simply noted a recorded fact.

He's making a judgment call on one's beliefs. The question has never been answered really.

Remember, at one time Global Warming was an "absolute fact" for many in the media.

I think he's saying that the Obama thing is more of a "Jim Morrison is dead" kind of fact than a "Kennedy was shot" kind of fact.
