Miller wouldn't be doing so well if Roy were here. There's a big vacuum at guard with only Bayless and Fernandez to get stats.

    That's speculation.

It was Miller's night all the way around. He played the man well.

He may not have put up the stats, but he would have been really effective. Do you think Phoenix could have afforded to swith Richardson and Nash on defense with Roy playing? Brandon has put up 52 on this team. What would he have done with Steve Nash defending him?

If we had Sergio the game never would have been so close.

Well luckily you've changed your name, so your early season rants on Miller won't be brought up.

Exactly. The reality is that if Roy weren't out, Gentry couldn't have switched defensive assignments. Nash defending Roy would have been a travesty. Gentry would have had to leave Nash on Miller and hope for the best. Miller punishing Nash all series long sounds good to me.

I am still mystified Gentry does this. If you look at Phoenix record over the year, they tend to go as well as Richardson does on offense. Every time Gentry uses him to defend a better player, Richardsons offensive game suffers and the team as a whole, suffers. That is why I was so concerned when Roy was out, because I figured Richardson would not have to guard him, and would have the energy to get his offensive game going. Little did I know Gentry was going to try and match him up against Miller. I'll take it. And run with it.

My guess is he would have started Nash on Batum. Hill on Miller and Richardson on Roy.

Really? I think that would have been disastrous for Phoenix...there is no way Hill can stay in front of Miller. It would have been a layup line for Miller, or he would have drawn one foul after another. IMO, Gentry switched Richardson onto Miller because he felt Richardson had the athleticism to make it harder for Miller to get into the paint (and the size not to be posted, but Hill has that too).

I know Nash covered him for a little bit, but I thought the last time we played them, one of Hill or Richardson was generally on Miller. I think they figured the penetration was going to happen either way, Nash or one of them, so at least with one of them, you eliminate, or diminish, the post up advantage.

Is that really PapaG? If it is, it makes complete sense. The guy gets run off, comes back and is already starting shit with people.... amazing.

Yeah, Batum would feast on Nash all day long in that match-up either shooting right over the top of him from the perimeter or cutting to the hoop to receive lobs or passes from either Miller or Roy.

Phoenix would probably go with a much more conventional positional match-ups and hope for the best

My objection to Miller remains the same.

He is on the verge of retirement and his signing effectively busted up our hopes for a dynasty.

Paul wants a quick title-run to build value and then he/Vulcan will sell the team or move it to Seattle.
