How great would it be if Martell could have one of his crazy shooting nights during this series. Here is my plan, everyone think positive thoughts about Webster from now until tip tomorrow night. Let's see what happens.
even my wife has mentioned that I am being less hard on Martell. His 2 consecutive blocks last night got him out of my doghouse for a couple games. Rudy has a lot of room to sprawl out in there now.
His defense is good enough now that I'm not as down on him when he gets all streaky with his shot -- whatever happens he's contributing something half of the time and contributes about 1/2 the time on offense which is about half again as much as Rudy contributes at all.
I just re-watched game 1 and his defense was outstanding. A few more points would help, but as long as he keeps the intensity up on the D side, I'm happy!
Well we know there will be some adjustments on Miller, so we need someone to fill the scoring void if the Suns D takes away from Dre.
Webster's two block sequence is the highlight of the entire playoffs for me so far. If he keeps playing with that intensity, we'll win the series. And yes, I'll think good thoughts for him.
That was a game changer...and that right there made it a "breakout game" for him. But, I know what he's saying, and I would like to see Martell reach 15 points in Game 2.
Not sure what "wut" means, but I was referring to when Bayless first came into the game and promptly jacked up 3 long jump shots before passing the ball to anyone. Nate calmed him down and he changed the second half. Bayless started looking for others after that. He stayed more in the flow. Of all the reserves, it's Martell's game that I have the most confidence in (as does Nate). Martell played a good game yesterday. A repeat of yesterday's game would be just fine. Being "the" scorer isn't everything.
Martell played great D most of the season and used his strength and athletasism to get the advantage on bigger opponents. Unfourantly when he was gaurding someone who was faster then him he had some problems. When he gets hot on the offensive end there is no stopping him. It does seem to be that if he hits his first three he is gonna be an offensive threat, if he misses it he will close down and not look to score.
The 2 blocks were very nice - but his best defense was on Nash imho. Earlier in the game we saw how Nash after a switch separated himself from Howard so he would have space to drive and be fouled. Same thing happened again Webster - but Martell was right up in his face, pressuring him, trying to swipe the ball - Nash wasted 12 seconds over-dribbling - and it ended with a bad shot by PHX and a rebound by Portland. Fantastic, fantastic defensive possession even if it did not end with a magnificent 2 blocks highlight.
I'm not really worried about that. Dre picked up his scoring after the Suns adjusted to Aldridge. I suspect they will either work to stop Miller, and if that's the case we will go to LMA, or they will stick with doubling Aldridge and Miller will get back to work.
