There are no worse and misinformed writers than those who work for "The Sporting News"

I thought Miiller would have one good year left in him when he signed. That was a stupid assumption on my behalf. I get caught up in age like the rest of you. Bottom line is we have an excellent PG for another two years. (Look how J-Kidd is playing after all his injuries)

What happens in 2013? Why worry. Hell we could pick up another 34 year old vet who wants to win a championship, or we could find a 2nd round sleeper, or Bayless, Koponen, or Mills could emerge, or...........10 other scenarios.

We need to stop trying to wrap everything in a perfect little 10 year package. Because in this league when 2-3 players can make all the difference in the world, teams change quickly. I am thrilled to have Camby and Oden for the next couple of years, as well as Miller and (whoever). With Roy, LMA and Batum, things are looking pretty good. And I say that believing we will lose this series to Phoenix.

This a very healthy and very good attitude to adopt -- especially for the Blazers management, because trying to project out much more than a year or two is fraught with too many variables to really be much use.

That said, it sure wouldn't be all that bad to try and add a longterm impact player at point guard if they can in the next year. The Bayless, Koponen, Mills, "let it bake," approach doesn't seem like an especially strong play.

There is no national beat writer who knows the Blazers better than most of the posters here. Not one.

National "Beat Writers" are those who cover their home teams and then send articles to a National newspaper, such as The Sporting News. The Oregonian's Jim Beseda had been that person for a long time, and Beseda knows more about the Blazers than most of the people on this forum.

But, I think you meant that "national 'sports' writers", such as those who cover "all the teams" for media outlets, such as The Sporting News, don't know as much as the people on this forum. That, of course, is true. It's not possible for them to do so because they have to know a little about a lot (all the NBA teams), where we know a lot about a little (just the Blazers).

You are correct, sir! I definitely mis-typed (and mis-cast for that matter).

Boy my hat's off to a "sportswriter" (who the heck is Eric Freeman anyway?) who can write the following paragraph and pass it off as analysis:

Camby can't play a ton of minutes because of his age, but he's going to be the team's primary center in all situations? Oden will have to "fend for any minutes he can get" over a 36 going on 37 year old PF/C and a guy who's knee recovery makes his ability to play any minutes next fall questionable?

Nice find MIXUM. You must really scour the internet for such "inciteful" (not insightful in this case) pieces to show your love for "your" team.

The spell correct feature has to work overtime with your posts. 'The' is not hard to spell.

Anyway, how would anyone know what Paul Allen's feelings are with regard to Oden? He rarely speaks out about anything and I've never heard any comments about Oden in particular.

Aside from your reference to 2 select games over 2 seasons (neither of which obviously had any impact on us actually GETTING TO the playoffs) and your ignoring the 164 games that DID get us to the playoffs, Jerryd Bayless will never be our PG of the future and Andre Miller will actually retire before the future.

That leaves us no PG, and no backup PG.

As bleak as it can get.
