Tough to gauge this team on a playoff series when they're missing two key pieces (Roy and Oden) but IMO we still need one more top tier offensive player in order to compete for a championship. The elite teams (defensively) make it almost impossible to win with just one great offensive player. We really need to add some consistent scoring punch to our offense. Oden could potentially help but is likely another 2-3 years away from being a legit scorer. If I was GM of the Blazers I would do everything I could to try and get Bosh. Offer any combination that didn't include Oden, Roy and possibly Batum.
Batum would likely have to be a part of an Aldridge sign-and-trade for Bosh, and also a #1 pick would probably be included. Would that be worth it? I'm not sure.
If we were healthy, or somewhat healthy, we'd be fine. Some combo of Roy, Aldridge, Oden, Miller, Batum would do the trick. Even if one was injured, I think we would be fine. Problem is right now 3 are injured, and it's a lot easier to contain 2 players than 4-5. I think a bigger concern is actually getting consistent production from the bench. Bayless/Webster are doing decent right now, but they were atrocious as recently as last week. If they're not working, our bench is terrible (even when Rudy gets demoted to the bench).
Not sure I see a consistent scorer in the starters besides Roy at least not yet. Batum and Oden are likely a couple of years away, Miller is not a true scorer more of a distributor, and LaMarshmellow fades at critical times. I'm really concerned how long Roy will be able to stay healthy. He's on the verge of hitting his prime over the next 4-5 years presuming he stays healthy (which I'm extremely concerned about). I think we'd be wise to look for another good offensive player that could help take the pressure off the team when Roy is either off or being doube/triple teamed. Bosh to me would be the perfect fit because he's Aldridge without the purse.
