Lot of smack about getting rid of Rudy - and I don't disagree right now....but Webster is playing like he's just been brought up from High School. What's up with this guy?

    Webster = Worthless. (clueless)

Trouble is, every GM in the league can see what we're seeing!

Going into the summer, I'd look to trade Pryzbilla (one year remaining), Webster, Rudy....maybe Bayless -

and if there was a chance in hell that Bosh would consider playing in Portland - I'd be absolutely fine with adding LMA to this mix and pursuing him!

LMA = soft.real soft. (no defense, no enthusiasm, hustles about every fifth game)

Statistically, he's not that much worse than Batum.

    http://www.nba.com/blazers/stats/

    Nicolas Batum 5 5 25.0 .444 .400 .750 .80 3.00 3.80 .8 .40 .00 .80 2.60 9.2
    Martell Webster 5 0 23.8 .381 .154 .462 .80 3.60 4.40 .4 1.00 .60 .60 1.80 8.0

shoots a lot worse % wise but better boards, rebounds and steals.

At the very least, he looks like he's trying. Unlike Rudy.

Can we finally give up on Batum too? Since we're giving up on every fucking player on this goddamn team now.

I think we need to pursue both Bosh and Rudy Gay over the summer. We don't have scoring! I see an upside to Batum - but let him be 6th man of the year or something. Get rid of Webster, Fernandez, Pryzbilla (loved the guy, but he's done in Portland) and trade LMA (with those previously mentioned) to Toronto for BOSH. Then go get Rudy Gay. Miller is a fantastic PG - and over the next year or two, we can target our PG of the future.

I vote we give up on Oden and Roy too. Their just to injury prone. Maybe we can trade Roy for shannon Brown and Oden for Tyson Chandler.

Honestly B-Roy, Webster looks like a deer in headlights! The guy tries, and the guy has physical talents - but he just doesn't have a head for the game. Webster could drive to the basket, score or get fouled 75% of the time....but he's afraid. So he launches bombs (some of which barely see rim) and his lack of confidence makes him worthless on the offensive end. I had hopes for him in January - then he fizzled (again).

Well, if you REALLY are that fond of Webster - then so be it. I think he's worthless.

Not every player! Just Webster, Rudy, LMA and Pryzbilla (no fault of his own). This is not the entire team!

Webster could barely hit the ground if he tripped and fell right now, but at least he's rebounding and playing hard on D ... that's something.

Can we just merge all the bandwagon-fan-kick-every-player-when-he's-down threads into a single thread please?

Seriously, there isn't anywhere near enough knowledge of the game nor even knowledge of our own players here to justify multiple threads ad-nauseum for such constant non-support of the team.

He has struggled offensively lately that is very true. He has all the weapons there to be a great offensive threat but he lacks a lot of confidence in his ability to hit the three or get to the rim. The thing I really like about him is how well his defense has developed this year. He is quick enough to guard some of the 2's in the league and a few of the smaller 4's too. So your talking about a player who can guard three different positions, play two different positions, rebound and block shots. So what if he is shaky with his offensive game if his defense doesn't suffer then you don't kick him to the curd. Give him another year and I think he'll finally get the confidence and consistency to be a real offensive threat.

We should fire Nash for that awful pick. There, done. Quit bitching about something out of our control.

If you mean giving up on Webster ever being more than a bench player, I doubt many people could seriously disagree.

Webster is averaging 8 ppg, 4 rpg, and 1 spg for us off the bench. He does all his homework and he gives it his all on the floor. At least he is trying.

It's crazy to remember that Rudy led us in steals per game this season. In the playoffs, he has just one steal. What the fuck happened to him?

We didn't fire him hard enough though. We need to bring him back to town to fire him more convincingly.

That link is for stats per playoff game. How about per regular season minute.

If you want to count boards, rebounds, and steals as 3 categories, don't forget thefts, assists, and dimes. Per minute, Batum is better at all categories. The only thing Webster has more of is free throws, though with a lower percentage.

Batum is 38% better in effectiveness points. He's better, per minute, by 53% in assists, 40% in blocks, 55% in offensive rebounds, 16% in rebounds, 16% in steals, and 36% in blocks. Batum has some of the best shooting percentages in the league.

regular season is irrelevant. we talkin' playoffs. I'm not saying that Webster is better than Batum. Its just right now in the playoffs, there isn't much difference in comparing them based solely on numbers. Webster, when he is in the game, seemed ok...he's shooting really atrociously but at least he's helping out on the defensive end a bit. Its a bad playoffs for the Blazers.....not a lot of bright spots.

If they've been close per minute (I haven't checked) for this short 5 game span, it's because Batum is playing in pain.
