I've got France and Uruguay going through. With Forlan and Suarez, they can score on anyone and they will be tearing up this group.

I have France and South Africa going through, and here's a fact, the home team has never failed going through to second stage. ;)

They will get zero points this year, I'm putting money on it just for laughs.

South Africa named 29 men today:

Itumeleng Khune (Kaizer Chiefs), Moeneeb Josephs (Orlando Pirates), Shu-Aib Walters (Maritzburg United), Rowen Fernandez (Arminia Bielefeld); Matthew Booth (Mamelodi Sundowns), Siboniso Gaxa (Mamelodi Sundowns), Innocent Mdledle (Mamelodi Sundowns), Bongani Khumalo (SuperSport United), Tsepo Masilela (Maccabi Haifa), Aaron Mokoena (Portsmouth), Bryce Moon (PAOK), Anele Ngcongca (Racing Genk), Siyabonga Sangweni (Golden Arrows), Lucas Thwala (Orlando Pirates); Surprise Moriri (Mamelodi Sundowns), Franklin Cale (Mamelodi Sundowns), Lance Davids (Ajax Cape Town), Kagisho Dikgacoi (Fulham), Andile Jali (Orlando Pirates), Teko Modise (Orlando Pirates), Reneilwe Letsholonyane (Kaizer Chiefs), Siphiwe Tshabalala (Kaizer Chiefs), Thanduyise Khuboni (Golden Arrows), Steven Pienaar (Everton), MacBeth Sibaya (Rubin Kazan); Benni McCarthy (West Ham), Katlego Mphela (Mamelodi Sundowns), Siyabonga Nomvethe (Moroka Swallows), Bernard Parker (FC Twente).

That's 10 based in Europe and 19 from the domestic league. There's some talent there, but its going to be a long tournament for the hosts.

They may have. I just haven't found it. Haven't searched too hard either.

    And here's Uruguay:

Goalkeepers: Fernando Muslera (Lazio/Italy), Juan-Guillermo Castillo (Deportivo Cali/Colombia), Martin Silva (Defensor Sporting)

Defenders: Diego Lugano (Fenerbahce/Turkey), Diego Godin (Villarreal/Spain), Andres Scotti (Colo Colo/Chile), Jorge Fucile (Porto/Portugal), Martin Caceres (Juventus/Italy), Mauricio Victorino (Universidad de Chile/Chile), Maximiliano Pereira (Benfica/Portugal)

Midfielders: Walter Gargano (Napoli/Italy), Egidio Arevalo-Rios (Penarol), Sebastian Eguren (AIK Stockholm/Sweden), Diego Perez (Monaco/France), Alvaro Pereira (Porto/Portugal), Alvaro Fernandez (Universidad de Chile/Chile), Jorge Rodriguez (River Plate/Argentina), Alvaro Gonzalez (Nacional), Ignacio Gonzalez (Valencia/Spain), Nicolas Lodeiro (Ajax/Netherlands)

Forwards: Sebastian Fernandez (Banfield/Argentina), Luis Suarez (Ajax/Netherlands), Diego Forlan (Atletico Madrid/Spain), Sebastian Abreu (Botafogo/Brazil), Edinson Cavani (Palermo/Italy), Jorge Martinez (Catania/Italy)

These guys are my sleeper pick. They won't win, but they're getting out of this group.

    Parlez-vous français?:

Goalkeepers: Cedric Carrasso (Bordeaux), Mickael Landreau (Lille), Hugo Lloris (Lyon), Steve Mandanda (Marseille).

Defenders: Eric Abidal (Barcelona, Spain), Gael Clichy (Arsenal, England), Patrice Evra (Manchester United, England), Rod Fanni (Rennes), William Gallas (Arsenal, England), Marc Planus (Bordeaux), Adil Rami (Lille), Anthony Reveillere (Lyon), Bacary Sagna (Arsenal, England), Sebastien Squillaci (Sevilla, Spain) .

Midfielders: Abou Diaby (Arsenal, England), Alou Diarra (Bordeaux), Lassana Diarra (Real Madrid, Spain), Yoann Gourcuff (Bordeaux), Florent Malouda (Chelsea, England), Yann M'Vila (Rennes), Jeremy Toulalan (Lyon).

Forwards: Nicolas Anelka (Chelsea, England), Hatem Ben Arfa (Marseille), Jimmy Briand (Rennes), Djibril Cisse (Panathinaikos, Greece), Andre-Pierre Gignac (Toulouse), Sidney Govou (Lyon), Thierry Henry (Barcelona, Spain),Franck Ribery (Bayern Munich, Germany), Mathieu Valbuena (Marseille)

Karim Benzema was the interesting omission here. He of course probably had to roll off an underage prostitute to get the news. Domenech did say it was the scoring he wasn't doing in Spain rather than the scoring he was doing in France that prevented him from making this roster.

The absence of Nasri is more questioning in my opinion.

He would have been if I had noticed he wasn't there. I guess I just took it for granted he was included.

Then again, he has had a very on-off season. No more or less than Diaby though.
