Did you miss the part where I said "I would guess it's an attack from within." Does that sound like I'm ruling anything out? It's a guess. Probably a good guess at that.
LOL! And I said I disagree with your guess because in my opinion your guess is based on faulty assumptions. And yes, your defense of your guess seems, in my opinion, that you are attempting to rule out one particular terrorist organization. This is fun!
Hardly. Al Queda has been known to use petrol as an accelerant in its bombs, but not as the primary explosive as far as I'm aware. Hopefully we will find out who orchestrated this act. Then we will know how accurate my guess was.
From the very same article YOU quoted from that said the police are looking for a white male, "At about 2 p.m. Sunday, NYPD breached a 55 by 32 inch gun locker inside the car and found it contained eight bags of an unknown, fertilizer-like substance and an inverted pot with a "bird's nest" of wires. There were three propane tanks next to the gun locker, two five-gallon jerry cans of gasoline, and a timing device, police officials said. There was no high-grade explosive, and the timing device was clocks attached to wires. Attached to the propane tanks were M88 fireworks, some of which went off." No where in any article has said that gas was the primary explosive. It was found in the car with as we learn more, lots of other shit. Your guess might be correct but it doesn't mean that your guess wasn't based on incorrect assumptions. Again, all I'm trying to say is that making assumptions on who did this based on how you think the bomb was made doesn't make a lot of sense. Now that the bomb appears to be more complex than you first thought it was does that mean your guess is any more or is less accurate if the person they catch has no ties to Al Queda?
Al Qaeda used jet fuel as an explosive. It's one thing to make a land mine (car bomb) out of RPG parts and other leftover and buried munitions. It's another to try and put together these things within our borders and under the noses of our homeland security and police type forces. Seems like Al Qaeda is quite weakened as well. All things considered, Al Qaeda obviously improvises with what they have at their disposal.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB100...126360756.html?mod=WSJ_hpp_LEADNewsCollection On Sunday, a Pakistani Taliban group took credit for the attempted attack in a short video. The video, purportedly from the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan group, offered "congratulations to the Muslim ummah (community) on the jaw-breaking blow to Satan's USA." The video, which made no mention of the plot's failure, said the attack was a response to recent killings of top Pakistani Taliban figures, including Baitullah Mehsud. Mr. Kelly said there is no evidence of a Taliban link to the attempted bombing and noted that the group had falsely claimed responsibility for other incidents in which it had no involvement.

The device, which failed to detonate, was left near the offices of Viacom, which owns the irreverent cartoon series. Last month postings on an Islamic website warned the creators of South Park - Matt Stone and Trey Parker - that they could face violent reprisals after an episode of the show featured Mohammed in a bear suit.
al-Qaida. Say it with me guys. al-Qaida. Also: LOL at the Pakistani Taliban claiming responsibility. Looks to me like we don't know what this is yet.
Wait a second, that's who we're talking about?!? Shiiiiiiiiiit, I thought we were talking about those Fez hat wearing old dudes.
So Obama starts bombing inside Pakistan and now we have an attempted attack in NYC by a Pakistani. Hrm.... Anyhow, the guy was a naturalized citizen of the USA, born in Pakistan.
