5 threes tonight. We should've kept him.

Ever hear of a system player? That's Channing Frye. I don't know how well he succeeds anywhere else. However, Phoenix's coaching staff has transformed in to a hell of a good shooter, considering he only made like, 20 threes in his career coming in to this season.

Rudy and Martell would look twice as good in Phoenix.

Yeah, he played great for us. And he's exactly what we need...a 3 point shooting big man...because we don't already have a big that likes to shoot from the outside...

The Spurs agree with me. In fact, they're currently annoyed that a bad player is having an extremely unusual good performance at their expense.

What else should we have the Spurs decide for us?

Spurs going fishing next week because of Frye. I predict a sweep.

Poppovich just said Frye's ability to hit contested threes was why his Spurs couldn't win.

This goes to show how shitty Nate's system is. First Von Wafter kills it, and now Channing Frye.

Von Wafer didn't play in the NBA this year, Frye is a gimmick "center" that's been horrible in the playoffs. Hmmmmmm.

Frye wouldn't produce like he has under any other system. What other team has taken role players and made them stars year after year? Phoenix. Or Steve Nash, however you'd like to put it.

If Oden would have been healthy and established himself as a low post scorer, we could have had a similar situation to what the Magic have in Orlando. The way we shot the three ball would have let guys like Frye be useful.

I think he'd play fine in Utah as well ... another system that is designed to get guys wide open looks with good screening and flex cuts. Sloan would hate his defense though.

Just like Sergio would be an all-star in D'Anotni's system

    Re: Frye is good.

So what are we doing wrong then if we're a jump-shooting team and Frye sucked for us, but now he's killing it w/Phoenix?

Sounds to me like our system is just not cutting it. If this is as much as we are going to get from our role-players, unless they were in a different system where they would get better, then why aren't we making adjustments to get them better...

This shit just doesn't add up. "oh he sucks, but hes good in that system" ...... I just don't buy it..

Didn't you predict that WE would sweep as well?

I'm happy for Channing -- his move to Phoenix was a good one for all parties, as far as I can tell.

He's not killing it. He has a 10.6 PER in this year's playoffs. That's poor reserve quality.

    Re: Frye is good.

Who cares what his PER is. He's dropping three's on the Spurs, and he contributed to a game 5 win over us to basically secure a 2nd round appearance, not to mention just helped secure game 2 win over the Spurs tonight.

So I ask again, what have our role-players done, and what are we doing wrong with them in our system where they need to go to another team to succeed?

Frye is a good shooter. That's about it. He's lucky to be playing with Steve Nash.

    Re: Frye is good.

Well, it shows he's not succeeding. If "having a good game once every so often while mostly being terrible" is your definition of success, every player in the NBA is succeeding.

    Yay!
