Well then barfo, why don't you right those wrongs and start paying out reparations to those "locals" Do you REALLY think that 5% of the illegals in Arizona are white europeans? Furthermore, the fact that most of the illegals are hispanics SHOULD factor into who is checked for identification and to say it shouldn't is sheer stupidity, but then again no one should be surprised by the left espousing this opinion.... I have no problem with a national ID, and niether should those people who have nothing to hide.... and Steve Nash proves that once again, whenever he opens his mouth to speak about anything other than basketball he shows what a colossal idiot he is.....
The United States in 2010 has clearly defined borders that have been in place for over 150 years, and are recognized by every nation on earth. We are one united nation, rather than a collection of small separate Indian tribes. Our forefathers couldn't have applied to an immigration and naturalization department back in the 1620s because there wasn't such a thing. It was a wild, largely unpopulated area that wasn't even mapped in its entirety . . . To compare the settling of this country by Europeans to what is going on today along our southern border is something only a whacky liberal would do.
"People who have nothing to hide..." I'm sorry, but this is one of the most bass-ackward arguments in history. If you have nothing to hide, it is because you are a law-abiding citizen......in which case you have a right to be left the hell alone!
I'm not a big believer in trying to right past wrongs. I am a big believer in trying not to create new wrongs. barfo
"Largely unpopulated"? I like that "largely". What do you think the population was, according to reliable archeological sources? Of course, it was a lot more unpopulated after the programs of mass extermination. But hey, manifest destiny, right? Clearly God intended America to belong to us whiteys. Oh I see - this is all about the "international community". I'm glad to see you're such a fan - no doubt when an international tribunal gets around to trying Dick Cheney and Dubya on war crimes, you'll be first in line to hand them over. Look: I don't think it's surprising that people already in Arizona don't want to let people in (although, I'd like to see how long that lasted if it really worked on 100% of the illegal immigrant population - who would mow all those lawns?) because they feel somehow entitled to it. But that's all it is, a feeling. There's no remotely plausible moral account that you can tell that justifies the borders of, actually any country, given its history, but particularly the US, and particularly the American Southwest. Besides which, aren't all you Republicans god-botherers? Do you really believe that God gave Arizona to the whiteys and is smiling on their selfish attempt to keep the poor people out? I assume this is in retaliation for my Stephen Hawking comment. Which was motivated by his actual commentary on the plight of Native Americans (as you would know if you clicked on the link). So for your comment to have a point, presumably Einstein (not only foreign, but Jewish too!) supported your view on immigration? Somehow I doubt it. But then you're no Niels Bohr.
Wow, Los Suns jerseys on Cinco de Mayo. Statement indeed. I had Mexican food and margarita's last night, but it had nothing to do with the ILLEGAL immigrants living in our country.
Unless of course you went out to eat that Mexican food and drink that Margarita... in which case the busboy, the cooks, and half the waiters were actually illegal immigrants.
Funnily enough, we did go out to eat. The place we go is in our neighborhood, and has a sign on the front door that reads "The only thing illegal here is how good our food and drinks are" They put it up a day after the Arizona law.
Well that sign is definitely true then. Of course, the children of illegal immigrants aren't illegal immigrants, iirc. Also, does the owner know the supply chain all the way back? No illegals involved in picking the beans or other veggies, making the tortilla chips, etc.? How far up the chain is vigilance required for legality? I mean, the real spirit of legality, not the letter of it.
But then again, you didn't make an official statement to the press stating that you were having Mexican food and margaritas last night to demonstrate your opposition to the new Arizona law, either...
I love arguing with liberals. Let them go on long enough and they'll always say something as stupid as the above.
Could someone give me a logical reason that illegal latinos SHOULD be allowed to come here and/or stay here without following the law of the land? Maybe someone could even explain why the illegals should get priority over legal immigrants who follow the law. Go Blazers
