It's been a long, long time since I've had to upgrade a laptop as I've always relied on work it folks to do it. Anyway, I'll be upgrading my laptop from Vista to Windows 7. This is probably a stupid question, but will I have to re-load all of my various application programs such as Office, etc.? I may have a hard time locating some of them. Is there a way to copy the programs prior to upgrading?
Windows 7 comes with a migration tool that should copy your stuff from windows xp to windows 7 google for it
True enough. Just finished downloading W7 with no problems. I ran a (Microsoft) compatibility test beforehand which recommended that I uninstall iTunes and AVG virus protection prior to installing W7. However, it was easy enough to re-installed them following the upgrade. Thanks!
When I upgraded, everything went fairly well except that I permanently lose IE. It's no big deal as I now use Mozilla, but still I'm not a fan of either Vista or 7.
