http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/05/12/arizona.ethnic.studies/index.html?hpt=T2 The latest bit of news to come out. in case you didn't know of some more past: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_XXVII#Arizona.27s_Martin_Luther_King_Day_controversy
Good. I've been in these classes in college, they are a complete waste of time. The entire classes are centered about how shitty white people are and how to feel sorry for oneself based on their race. Really hostile discussions take place and its a lot of groupthink. I think it was called "American Cultures", it was a joke...really easy class though. Even some of the high school classes kind of encroach on these subjects (I believe it was called "Peace and Justice").
I personally think this will make Arizona a nicer place to live in the future. Instead of placating everyone, they are taking a hard nose stance. No more illegals, no more advocating classes that cause hostilities towards other races, etc. Today Los Angeles City Council voted to boycott arizona. The response here is pretty negative towards this complete waste of time. So fucking stupid. Fix our fucking city first before wanting to cripple someone else. Could you imagine if the state of Arizona started telling its residents to Boycott tourism to LA? Don't go to Disneyland? California is royally fucked in the head, not Arizona. In a few years its going to be a bigger shithole.
hahahaha Pres, really? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Wetback http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jingoism
The state that gave us John McCain and Barry Goldwater says all this is necessary, but you notice that the adjoining states don't agree. Reporters asked those state governments a couple of days ago whether they would follow suit and they said no, it's unnecessary.
The law will be tested in the courts and it will be undone by SCOTUS. It's a clear violation of the 14th amendment, the equal protection clause.
You're totally right, westnob. We should have more classes teaching minorities how oppressed they are, and do more ass wiping of vocal minorities. That isn't racist at all.
and what does that have to do with having classes where minorities can just get together and sulk. I've been in these classes, they are teh gheyest thing you've ever seen in your lives.
Please see post #15 when you are done armchair quarterbacking from Lake Oswego, Oregon... home of diversity!!
And if they are, does it help to have classes where they reinforce this thought? I'll answer for you: No, it doesn't.
The LA City council is comparing and likening this to the Nazi Holocaust and Japanese internment. Looks like they're the ones who need to take some classes.
I would be grateful to any minority if they would tell a story of the last time they were oppressed simply because they were a minority.
This. Any teachings that involve discrimination are wrong. Great men fought for the rights of every individual to be treated equal, yet many cultures still try to teach that their people are are oppressed in some way. How would it fly if there were a class for white people only that tought how there is a huge reverse racism problem today among blacks and Hispanics towards white people? There would be absolutely no way the leaders of those respective races would stand for that. Stand with me not as a back man or Hispanic man, but stand with me as a human being.
