Just curious. BTW, this is a public poll.

Those are some, shall we say, underwhelming choices. I'm not completely sold on Monty, just b/c I haven't seen him really work as a lead assistant and do x-and-o stuff...maybe that's just b/c Nate's here, but I'm not going to throw all my weight behind an unknown.

Now Tom Thibodeaux? He's the brains behind making Doc Rivers look like a good coach, and he's known for defensive scheming. I'd like to see what he could to with Oden and Camby and Batum and Webster, and if he can get Roy and LMA to buy in.

Nate has a generally decent rapport with this team right now. And that's possibly the only reason for me to choose him over the others. If he didn't have that, they'd all be pretty even.

Calipari because I've always thought he was cute, going back to his New Jersey days.

I don't want a control freak coach that doesn't know how to delegate responsibilities. We need a coach that can see their own deficiencies and hire the proper assistants to address those areas.

Not sure if any of the retreads listed above fits that description, but I know Nate certainly doesn’t.

So you go for wrinkly sleazeballs, Eric?

Calipari is like the poor man's Pitino. Except he's better at not getting caught.

I vote for Kingspeed. It would be entertaining at least.

His teams always get caught but he gets another gig right when the hammer comes down.

    Calipari is one sleazy fuck.

You mean I get to pick which mediocre coach will "lead" this team into the future?

I select none of the above. If Portland wants to win a ring they are going to have to bring in a coach that is actually an unrealistic hire.

None of these coaches fit the bill.

    I went with Dunleavy.

I thought he did a good job while coaching the Blazers. If you go back and look at that team's execution of a game plan, it makes this current team look clueless. Dunleavy was able to recognize how to punish a team with our advantages and then keep pounding it until the other team adjusted.

A great example was against the Lakers: Dunleavy got the Blazers to abuse the Lakers, especially Kobe, in the post any time possible. He got Bonzi in the post. Pippen in the post. Smith in the post. Heck, he even got Wallace consistently in the post. He had schemes to get Sabonis the ball in very deep position in order to run the offense around him.

I'll admit that maybe this was the result of some veteran players (Smith and Pippen). I haven't paid attention to Dunleavy's coaching since he left, but I think he did a good job while here.

Pretty dumb comment. Look at what Scott Brooks did with OKC...It's about matching the right coach with the right team. Nate is not good for this team.

I've said McHale about 5 times on this board but it's still not on the above list (no one listens to me). So I voted Other (McHale).

Adelman. IDK if that is realistic or not, but he is my choice.

Probably because he's actually a pretty good coach ... People will want to point to him being at the helm of the 'Nyets' this year, but that team wasn't outcoached, they were just out-talented aside from Harris (who was gimpy) and Lopez.
