I can see moving Rudy to the Nets in some sort of package. The new Nets owner keeps talking about international marketing for them in every interview he gives.
OK first off ... it's Favors OR Harris (unless you want to package up Roy with Aldridge or part with a ton of bit player talent).
With Roy's window being now, I don't think a top draft pick (meaning have to give up proven talent) is high on the Blazers agenda.
If you didn't realize, we are trying to move further ahead in the playoffs. We don't want to get younger.
Yes I realize what the goal is ... and with most of the rest of the team now in their 5th+ year or beyond (well beyond in Miller and Camby's cases) adding high impact youth in the form of top 3 talent is not the same as getting younger for the sake of getting younger.
Harris is a year removed from an all-star appearance, Favors (or Cousins) have all-star potential. Here's what we know about Aldridge -- nice but probably a sub all-star level player Rudy -- major disappointment and a one trick pony, role-player at best Bayless -- young with some upside, but still a tweener and probably best as a supersub scorer versus a starting two guard or point guard LMA, Rudy and Bayless are not going to be as highly thought of as you seem to think.
Disagree about LMA (the national perception, not your opinion, which I share). I think that throughout the league they see a skilled, jump-shooting 4/5...an poor man's Dirk, but overcoming the shooting disparity a bit by being younger and faster and able to play D. I think that has value to at least SAS, MIN, GSW and others. Not sure about NJN, though.
