LMA > Favors/Cousins in the near-future. More reliably an above average player as well. But of course the grass is always greener on the other side...
People here seem to only focus on the negatives of any player that plays here while praising any player that wears a different uniform and only focusing on their positives. It's crazyness. Instead of recognizing Aldridge for the borderline AS talent that he is, they'd rather trade him for a prospect that is a headcase and has trouble with his weight. Say that out loud and not laugh.
Neither would I. You said how can Nik make the statement to trade LMA for Harris or Favors? You didn't get it, and claimed the statement didn't make sense and you have to trade for both to make the deal work. I was simply pointing out that the Nik's statement does make sense if you use the option of Harris (not having to include Favors, thus the "or"). Later it was pointed out that they could also trade LA just for Favors. Hopefully you get Nik's statement now or understand what you were missing before.
No doubt. I posted last week that Aldridge had the 18th highest PER in the NBA for players giving at least 35 mpg. If Cousins, who could only play 23 mpg in the SEC against weak front-line players because of foul trouble, does what Aldridge did last season I'll be very surprised. If he does it once in his career, I'll be surprised.
What were the "haters" right about concerning Blake, Outlaw, and Sergio? The team ended up with the same result as last year in the playoffs.
I wouldn't trade Aldridge straight up for Cousins. I'm willing to take a chance on injuries, and health. I don't see our roster as needing a shakeup like that. Desperate teams take chances like that. I don't see us as one. However, for shits and giggles. Scrap NJ. Assume Aldridge has the value of the #3 or 4 pick. Does Aldridge, Rudy, Claver, #22, and I dunno, next year's #1 get you #4 and Kevin love from Minnesota? Minnesota has all but said and shown Love and Jefferson don't fit next to each other. One has to go. I personally feel it should be Jefferson, because I am not high on him, but they are. Aldridge and Jefferson can fit well together, with their foreign C coming over(Pekorov?, can't remember his name offhand) and Darko as well. Aldridge isn't a good shot blocker, but isn't a poor defender. When we lost Joel and greg, I thought he did a good job on both Bynum and Dwight Howard, two of the only centers one really has to worry about in the league, at least strengthwise. Rudy and Claver are sent primarily to entice Rubio. Getting all 3 together could keep them happy, and get them to show up. I still don't know if Minnesota does it. Love is cheaper than Aldridge, and has comparable numbers. Assume they see them a sequal value, you are asking for Rudy Claver and 22 for #4, which is a tough sell. Minnesota, I think, got it the worst in the lotto. They are in a PF heavy draft, with only two top backcourt players as the consensus 1 and 2 picks, and they got 4. Maybe Kahn doesn't value the pick as much? Who knows, just throwing shit out there
Just curious, but why do so many of you assume this is about Cousins? My assumption is that the team would target Favors.
It could be. Favors has been the consensus #3 pick for a while now. I think it's NJ or bust. I really can't think of a worse trading partner than Minnesota right now.
Favors was pretty average at GA TECH this past year. Way too much foul trouble, incredibly raw, and just mediocre as a whole. He reminded me of a bigger (wider)... Aldridge. What's the point in trading a developed Aldridge of an underdeveloped one?
I guess I assumed it was an either-or situation, since there doesn't seem to be a lot of consensus about where the two will go (3 or 4).
I'd be cool with this idea, or any similar variations: Aldridge, #22, Claver, Koponen to NJ for #3— (they absorb all of Aldridge’s salary, and get that “international talent” the Russian dude wanted) Then flip #3, Joel, Dre, and Rudy to TOR for Bosh. — (Tor gets their C in Cousins, another Euro, and an expiring contract, and a starting PG which is possibly better value for Bosh than most other teams can give up). Sign one of Ridnour or Blake to back up Bayless at the PG spot. We can roll with a Bayless/Roy/Nic/Bosh/GO lineup with someone like Rid/Webs/Camby as primary bench players.
If we can get to 3, we can probably get PHI to swap us the 2. PHI doesn't need Evan Turner (with Jrue Holiday and Iggy?) , but we could use him. It leaves a gaping hole at the 4. Hell, I'd even let you guys talk me into signing Travis again to play the 4 if we somehow had a Batum/Roy/Turner 1/2/3 with Oden at the 5. Though my preference would probably be using the MLE on someone like Haslem/Warrick (Scola'd be nice, but too expensive to use the MLE on) rather that TO to start at the 4. Tyrus Thomas and Brockman are longshots here, and not worth a large chunk of MLE. I'm not a big fan of the LMA, 22, Claver, Kopo, Joel, Dre , Rudy for Bosh idea.
