Or like the Seattle Super Sonics. "Sold" and Moved. You can only lose so much money a year before you get tired of it.

Arenas after he is bought-out?? You bet! It'd be our equivalent to Lakers getting Gasol for peanuts.

    Portland Trade Breakdown
Change in Team Outlook: -2.2 ppg, -9.0 rpg, and -0.1 apg.

    Incoming Players
    Gilbert Arenas
    6-4 PG from Arizona
    22.6 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 7.2 apg in 36.5 minutes
    Al Thornton
    6-8 SF from Florida State
    10.8 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.2 apg in 27.6 minutes

    Outgoing Players
    Joel Przybilla
    7-1 C from Minnesota
    4.1 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 0.3 apg in 22.7 minutes
    Andre Miller
    0-0 from
    14.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 5.4 apg in 30.5 minutes
    Martell Webster
6-7 SF from Seattle Prep (HS)
    9.4 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 0.8 apg in 24.5 minutes
    Rudolfo Fernandez
    6-6 SG from Spain (Foreign)
    8.1 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 2.0 apg in 23.2 minutes

Gives us a young SF/PF in the mold of Outlaw from Thorton. We lose our depth at Sg but I expect Bayless to play backup 1/2

No. Arenas will in all likelihood be a shadow of Miller, and paid ridiculous sums. This would only have made remote sense if we still had RLEC.
Nobody will trade for him. He'll get bought out, and then bounce around like a sad Penny Hardaway-after-the-injuries.

If Philly has to give up Turner to get rid of Brand, WAS has to give up Wall to get rid of Arenas.

    They wouldn't do that.

The Wiz are talking about buying out his contract. This means he can be signed for vet minimum by the team of his choice (and who choses him). I wouldn't trade anything for him, but if he were on the free agency market for a minimum type contract, I'd think he's at least worth a look. The upside is considerable.

If he's healthy he'd be a great addition. I think he's going to come back with a chip on his shoulder. With the scare of real jail time I think that entire incident scared him straight, or it should have.

Didn't say they would. I'm saying that's about how much else they'd have to include for me to be satisfied with Portland taking on the remainder of his albatross of a contract.

That I could get on board with ... I still think it would probably end in a smoking crater, but there's a slight chance he'd be able to shelve the crazy and regain some of his lost explosiveness when fully healthy. On second thought, if getting healthy is his goal, letting the Blazers training staff work on him probably wouldn't be his first choice.

Why does it matter its not your money and we wont have any money till when Arena's contract is over, Joel is expiring this year. Arena's contract expires one year before Brandon's and Aldridge's. Id expect that they dont sign Oden to more than 4 years meaning he would expire the same year as Roy & LMA.

Because at some point, Paul Allen (and/or the Vulcans) are going to decide to put a limit on how much money is spent on this team. When that happens, I would hate for (hypothetically) an injured Arenas' contract to be the reason we don't extend Batum (for example).

And in addition to that, the larger Arenas' contract is, the more we need to send out to get him.

I was a huge fan of Gilbert early on, but dude's knees have been cut on a lot now. I'd need considerable reassurance from medical experts that he's not damaged goods before I'd really consider it and then you've got the issue matching the dollars exchanged and finding a fit that the Wiz likes. Added up, it's a looongshot to happen
