Ok instead of Seargeant I can add "overly controlling"? This team needs the reigns loosened... he needs them tight as possible. And no judging him in these playoffs are not completely unfair. To expect a Championship with the injuries we had.. yeah that would be unfair. But to expect him to be able to at least make some adjustments without it taking 2 games to figure it out.. that isnt unfair IMO.
How do you adjust to your limited PG being handled by Grant Hill, your 2nd leading scorer doubled in the post, and your three-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA player out for the first three games, then hobbled with injury for the rest of the series? Winning two games against the Suns was fucking incredible. Hell, the Spurs got swept, and they were supposed to challenge for a title this season.
Rudy played well on the second team with Sergio because they were allowd to open it up a bit. Rudy also shot the ball exceptionally well last year. His game didn't change, but his shot wasn't falling as frequently, and he wasn't running in a wide open system this year.
I am not blaming anything on Nate's offense. Some players simply play better in a more wide open system, like Rudy did last year with Sergio on the second unit.
This is pretty much it, isn't it Regardless of the situation, if the system isn't changing, Rudy needs to go.
That is one possibility. His back injury could be worse than he or the team is letting on. The other option, is that the problem is between his ears. Either way, he has no gripe with Nate, KP, or anybody else. It is either nobody's fault, or his own fault.
I won't go that far, but I do think Rudy could be utilized better. But he made a lot of very bad passes last year with the ball and I lost some confidence in him.
What in the world can be wrong with what I said? If a coach runs a certain offense, regardless of what it is, the players on the team need to adapt to that offense or they should be moved. If Nate's offense was designed to get the post involved, Joel probably wouldn't be a good fit. You need to relax, and understand that I am not criticizing anyone here.
not that I like how Rudy played this year, but what about fewer starts, fewer minutes, fewer shots, and less usage means he was given an "expanded" role?
I do agree that Rudy gave up a lot to come here and I'm sure the pitch to convince him to come over never went like, "Join the Trailblazers and spot up on the wing and be our all-star shooting guard's caddy," but he'd be a lot more sympathetic if he could just shut his fucking mouth and channel all that "dissapointment in being decieved" into his game instead of giving off horrible body language and basically sulking to the Spanish press.
After loosing to the best offensive team in the first round I know Sarge has realized it's time to transform his offense in some way. Take pressure off B-Roy and increase the overall efficiency. IF, Nate stays with the exact same system I'd say let him go I'm banking on the former
Rudy isn't worth the distraction he's become. At least our other mediocre players like Bayless and Mills know t keep their mouths shut.
Agree. It's not often that I sincerely dislike players on the Blazers, but thats how I feel about Rudy. He barely brings anything to the team, and he whines all the time. GTFO Rudy
