The team as is we'll be a team that wins 50-55 games with a first round exit in the playoffs, again.

Like the Houston series, Roy and Aldridge put up great numbers but it was painfully obvious we were missing that third scorer.

LaMarcus is not a second option, neither is Miller.

I like the idea- it's a good post.

That said, we need some depth at PG if we're going to really go anywhere. That's the only change we really need.

A healthy team with Melo as the SF and the Blazers are WCF contenders, even championship contenders.

Really? That would surprise me. As much as I think of Batum, Melo is just a better talent and player.

I don't think you could get Melo, but my interested but non-homer type observation is that Melo is the kind of guy you need. A legit #1 option in his own right, to go along with Roy, he fills the SF spot and leaves LMA/Miller as 3rd and 4th type options. I think they'd be excellent in those roles.

Anthony is 2nd team All-NBA and was sixth in MVP voting. I think every team could use a guy like that. ;)

I would trade anyone not named B-Roy for Melo without a second thought.

And I would seriously consider B-Roy but that would be a tough choice. I think I would have to pull the trigger due to durability issues. Roy probably isn't going to last as long in this league as Melo will.

It's nothing but a pipe dream though. The list of players as good or better then B-Roy is pretty fucking small. None of those guys are available for a team like Portland.

evidenced by this thread, this isn't true as many here seem that they'd be fine with some minor tinkering... no offseason goes by without at least some roster movement. While I'd love to see them do a big move that netted an upgrade in talent, I'd be fine with standing pat as well as this is a very solid team that should be coming into it's own. If they can run the gauntlet with a relatively injury free season I'd expect this roster to be one of the league's elite and just hammer clubs next season. My best guess is that the offseason drama fans are likely to be very disappointed the next few months :)
