What does Minnisota have that Portland would even want that also makes so little that a trade involving Rudy would work?

I don't think there is anything. And they don't have many players worth a two or three for one deal.

They don't need their #16 or #23 picks, we should try to snag those in this deep draft.

With the Blazers shaking things up and possibly killing everything they've achieved at this point, I suppose trading for Zach Randolph v2.0 would make sense.

Kevin Love or bust as far as I'm concerned.

#16 would be a great deal though

Love would be a great addition, but don't know how much else we can add to Rudy to entice them to move him to us. Outside of that, I'd take the 16 at this point, but I want to be able to trade it, and they don't have anybody else that fits Rudy's salary to make that deal during the draft.

The team needs to rebuild the bench. At this point, getting the 16th pick for Rudy would be a steal.

    Interesting dynamic here.

Minny might take LMA and Rudy for either Love or Jefferson. Either way, you might look at the TWolves front line and figure that could have been the Blazers'.

Whoever gets the short end of that stick might be another Durant/Oden kind of deal.

:dunno: So what's your alternative? Fire Nate, trade Roy, and rebuild the entire team to take advantage of his limited skill set and fragile ego?

Rudy just isn't good enough to be worth the hassle. If he doesn't want to be here, and can't accept his role here, he is pretty much worthless.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Why? He was drafted 24th and, at best, he's justified his draft position (he looked like a potential steal in his rookie season, not so much in season 2). If he had merely stagnated at his rookie level, I'd say he'd be about the value of a #16 pick. Considering he regressed, I think the #16 pick would be a good deal in favour of Portland.

I'd orefer Rudy to the 16th pick, but I'll take the asset of the 16th pick over a Rudy who most likely does not want to come back to Portland.

What happened to: "you're under contract, you have no leverage, you were injured last year, so work hard and stay healthy and we'll see what happens"?

Everybody needs to calm down. Some players (Beno Udrih, for example) seem to alternate bad seasons with good ones. Rudy is still a very talented basketball player with a high bball IQ, and a clutch 3-point shooter. He was also among league leaders in steals before he had back surgery. You would have to be very fortunate to find a better player with the 16th pick.

(And yes, he was picked at 24, but that was a steal. If you'd've re-done the draft after his rookie year (in which, let us not forget, he set a rookie record for 3-pointers) he would've been picked in the top ten in all likelihood.) We're in the silly season where everybody wildly overrates draft picks and remembers only the bad things about our current players.

I look at it as each team parting with marginal players to get potentially better fits for the positions they presently fill. Or, Blazers get more consistency, and Wolves get more diversity.

sorry but no. Dude is a sub on a terrible team, LA is a starter on a 50 win team. Besides the Portland connection, whats the infatuation about a PF with a center's weight and quickness, a SF's height and reach, who can't defend PFs let alone the 3's and 5's teams would constantly be trying to switch him onto? I wouldn't mind him off the bench but thats about it.
