I mean, boasting that the Celts weren't coming back to L.A.? It occurs to me that one of the Blazers (Uncle Cliffy?) uttered those similar, ironically fateful, words after Game 2 of the 1990 Finals.
I don't know if it was necessarily boasting per se. It was just trash talk. I really didn't have a problem with it.
I see your point. But it would be pretty hard not to talk trash after beating the fakers in their own building. PS. These Ref's still blow, even in the finals.
It's not that I have a problem with it, per se................based upon what happened to the Blazers, though, I understand what it can lead to.
Lakers coach should have kept his mouth shut too...but that's part of the game so I don't have a problem with either I only problem I have is its F***ing June and they are still playing
this is far from an established cause and effect relationship though especially since only a small fraction of the trash talking that goes on between players actually hits the media. STOMP
Yeah, probably so. I just SO much want the Celts to dismantle the Lakers and dash The Rapist's visions of grandeur.
Let's look at reality here. The NBA needs to wake up. Since they have gone to the 2-3-2 Format, no team that is the lower tier seed has won all 3 games at home. When you look at the difficulty of it, it is not a surprise. What are the chances of beating any elite NBA team 3 times in a row, even if it is on your home court? Low. Now if you also consider that Boston really isn't that great at home this year, (during regular season or the playoffs) that is quite a boast he is making. Good luck with that one. Lastly, if you need motivation to play hard in the finals, you are in the wrong place.
AMEN! BTW, is MB wearing a pointy hat in your avatar picture, or is that just a flag behind him, lol?
I don't think Paul knew ABC/ESPN was going to release footage of him trash talking fans, stripped of all secondary audio. Seriously, has anybody ever seen anything like that? Guys trash talk all game in every game, why did they edit that footage down and release it?
That's what I was thinking. It's not like he said it at a press conference or anything. He said it during the game..
Yeah, PJ doesn't use "chalkboard material" in the traditional sense. I wouldn't doubt, however, that he somehow weaved a morsel of zen into the mix.
A) What was Pierce supposed to say? That he thinks his team will drop a home game? B) Pierce said the same thing in the Orlando series. He ended up being wrong when the Magic won in Boston in Game 4, but the Cs still won the series so this all much ado about nothing. The Cs trailed the Cavs 1-2 also. In fact, LeBron's team destroyed in Game 3 in Boston. The Lakers barely won this one. Kobe was awful, shooting the Cs back into the game, but Fisher bailed him out. That's the difference right there. When LeBron struggles, no one comes to his rescue.
