Unfamiliar territory. The Lakers are on the brink of elimination in a playoff series.

Game 1, everything seemed to go right. Lakers were connecting on all cylinders, and we won handily. PJax never lost a series when winning game 1, holding a ridiculous 47-0 record.

Game 2, also in LA. The Celtics wake up. Pau and Bynum play out of their minds. Questionable calls left and right. Kobe is not allowed to be Kobe (call it officiating, call it Celtic D, whatever you'd like). We withstood a record night from Ray Allen, and still the game was anybody's game until the final minute. Series tied going to Boston.

The Laker Nation is freaking out. We HAVE to win a game in Boston, WOULD LIKE to win two, and it would have been BEAUTIFUL to win all three. Half the Laker Nation (those that I will call "the bandwagoners") are claiming the series is over. Boston is going to beat us again. The other half ("the die-hards") say relax......just one game.

Game 3 comes around. Lakers take a big lead, 17 points, but through the play of Big Baby Davis, the Celtics chip away, and get it as close as a 1 point game in the fourth quarter. Then Derek Fisher happens. He plays a fourth quarter that many perceive to be the best game of his career, topping it off with an emotional interview. LA up 2-1

Laker Nation is happy and many are calling for a sweep in Boston

Game 4. Lakers take a halftime lead, and we are beginning to see who the better team is. Clearly, the Lakers. Fourth quarter comes, Andrew Bynum is out, knee injury. BIG blow to the Lakers. Big Baby Davis and Nate Robinson come off the bench and kill the Lakers. Celtics win, series tied 2-2.

Many call Game 5 a "must win." Lakers don't want to see a game 7, Celtics don't want to have to win two games in LA.

Game 5 comes along. It becomes Kobe Bryant vs. The Celtics. Both teams went back in time and it looked like 2008 again. Ron Artest and Lamar Odom play, perhaps, the worst game of their lives in the biggest game of their lives. Bynum is still hurting.

Laker fans start freaking out again. Might as well plan the parade in Boston. Lakers down 3-2, words we thought wouldn't be uttered for another two or three years.
History says the team that goes up 3-2 in the Finals usually takes the series. The Celtics are 11-0 in this situation.
History ALSO says that the team that goes up 3-2 in the Finals is the team with homecourt advantage, going back to play in their house.

Lakers are the team with homecourt advantage. You best believe game 6 is going to be a dog fight. Both teams aren't going to pull any punches.

Anybody going to the game, be as rowdy as you can. Be classless, and without remorse.

The final two games are at Staples. Lakers-Celtics. The greatest rivalry in all of sports. Couldn't have it any other way.

"Nobody trips over mountains. It is the small pebble that causes you to stumble. Pass all the pebbles in your path and you will find you have crossed the mountain." ~Author Unknown

We have stumbled thrice on this part of our journey to number 16. Tuesday is a new day. We play in LA, our homecourt. We did what we set out to do in Boston; just win one. The Celtics could very well defeat us in LA, but they aren't going to. Every game aside from Game 5 we have shown that we were the better team, we just need to figure out how to close the game as a unit, rather than give the ball to our star and expect him to get the W. The Celtics did their job by going up 3-2 in the series and winning two games with their lives on the line.

Now, it's our turn to do likewise...

    I'm not crying.

We have two games at home to win the championship. If we cannot defend our house against Boston, we don't deserve to be champions.

I think its the way we are losing these games that is frustrating. These past two games we lost in Boston who can you honestly say "left it all out on the court" besides Kobe?

That's exactly what I'm saying in this post. Cool it down, Laker fans, we are playing in Tinseltown now. Throw history out the window and just remember this: The Lakers are a different ball club in LA, ESPECIALLY with their backs against the wall.

I'd point out everything else wrong, but I think this is enough.

The Lakers are clearly the better team and the Celtics are way too old. Why worry?

I've been worried because most of the Laker team hasn't played their hearts out on the floor. Kobe's pretty much the only exception, he's a champion and has proven it again, even though Boston has been playing terrific defense on him. The other guys need to step up and start showing some desire to win because otherwise Boston's gonna win it in our own house, everybody knows they're a good team on the road. I'm still sure that the series is going to 7 games, though.

We weren't clearly the better team in our first two losses.

There's always a team that's clearly better in a series that goes 7

We weren't?? Game 2, Ray Allen had a record night, Kobe played effectively for only half the game, a KG replay that got effed by the refs in crunch time, and we STILL could have won it?

Game 4, we were winning and showing we were the better team for 36 minutes...

...yeah. I DO think we are clearly the better team here.

Yes, it's going to 7, but I think the Lakers could have very easily finished this series in 4 or 5.

So when Kobe plays bad, it is because he didn't feel like playing well?

Wow who cares? We lost by nine points in game 2. We blew Game 4 with our starters versus their bench, in what way did we earn it? We didn't.

Their D caused us to lose.

I have NO idea where you're getting at with this. No where did I say "Kobe didn't feel like playing well."
BTW, I was right. I said we were the better team, and we weren't going to lose 2 in a row at home.

"Kobe played effectively for only half the game," There's a reason for that, are you aware of this?

To totally disregard their wins seemed a little disrespectful. We were not clearly better in every loss.

I think we were. He was called for bogus fouls and only played 34 minutes. 10 of those 34 minutes he had to play passively b/c of his 5 fouls, if you remember. So, when I say he played effectively for only half the game, it's not the Celtic defense that caused it.

We were quite evenly matched, no one cares if we lead at 36 minutes.

He had 11 points on 11 shots in the first half in 18 minutes. When he was on the court he was off that night. This is a real D he went up against, and the refs favored LA that night.

Aside from game 5, we defeated ourselves the other 2 games. It wasn't "the Celtic defense."

    How did we "defeat" ourselves?
