One season, marred by injury, and he stops being a star? The four seasons before last year he had PERs of 20+. And his career DRtg is 103. He's 28 and excellent...he'd be an enormous move, as long as the team didn't have to give up Roy or Oden.
Actually that is what came to mind for me quickly too. When Aldridge was drafted I was very happy we got him, and felt he had a ton of upside. Now I can't argue for him. Besides gaining some experience and composure, he really hasn't improved from his rookie year, and in some ways, has actually got worse. If you look at his stats, really the only thing that has improved from that year, is his number of minutes to produce. So now that being said, would the move involved be...Chris Bosh?
I think the thing was that if we'd have kept miles on the roster until after last year (2008-09)'s playoffs, no one could have poached him to play 10 games and messed with our cap space. If MEM had done what they did a in 2009-10 then it would've gone on 2009-10's lux tax, but not on the cap last summer, which no one would care about since we probably had blown our ~20M in cap space already.
Bosh for Aldridge would be awesome! It makes a lot of sense from Toronto’s end as they get a very nice piece on a cheaper contract. I think we are one of the few teams to have enough pieces to entice Toronto to make a deal while still being able to retain the talent to field a contending team. The hard part would be convincing Bosh. He can team up with Wade in Miami or Lebron if he leaves Cleveland. Bosh submitted a list of teams and we were not on it. But if his first few free agent ideas don’t pan out perhaps to get his extra $30 million of guaranteed money by getting a sign and trade he warms up to the idea of playing in the NW.
Actually, unless we are the only ones offering a trade to Toronto for Bosh departing with our big man while no one else is (aka Bynum from the Lakers or whoever is trying to trade for Bosh), it actually doesn't make a whole lot of sense for Toronto. Sure, Aldridge is cheaper, but he also is no where near as good as Bosh and for his contract, I don't think Toronto would view Aldridge as worth it, especially when they want a legit center and not another PF since they have that in Bargani (probably spelled his name wrong). I think we have the pieces to do such a move and think Toronto would take Aldridge if we sweetened the deal a little more (minus Roy and Oden), but unless Bosh would like to play here, I have no interest in going after him.
Some people love KP because he gives access, ironically that might be what got him in trouble. At the same time he did talk PA into the Miles deal, the Milsap mishap, the Turkey-glue turd, Jack for Bayless over better pgs, the Rudy Duty, Patty Cake Mills, etc. Put the whole Oden situation on top of that, and then realize that Andre Miller fell into KP's lap. Roy and LMA were clear wins, but who is to say that PA was not the main push behind Roy... Some of you are Pritchblind, and it makes sense that you are because you have a man-crush on him.
You just have to love it around here when somebody says something like this. Basically, you're giving your opinion about KP's record, based upon a whole bunch of suppositions about who was in favor of what (without any inside knowledge) and then saying that if anybody doesn't hold the same view, they're "Pritchblind". Not much point in having a Blazers forum, I guess. Just ask Sug and he'll let you know what you should think.
Hmm, maybe you're just posting to hear yourself post, in which case I shouldn't respond. But you clearly don't know what you're talking about. Mills was PA's choice. Miles was P.A.'s choice in not trading him sooner. P.A. loved him some Rudy, and thinks he could be a future All Star. Not K.P., Allen. Milsap mishap? Meh, it sounded good, better than the rest of the shit coming out of your ass. What PGs did he draft Bayless over exactly? Get a fucking clue.
Actually the point is pretty simple, some people feel KP can do no wrong and that PA is clearly the bad guy. I think it is important that none of us know the truth, and therefore everything is an opinion. I am not sure where I made the case that everyone should feel the same way I do, but rather gave my view. It is a forum and if I post something you do not agree with then tough shit.
The wording makes it sound like we're getting 3 players for 1 of ours. The 3 would have to be either old has-beens, head-cases, or picks. The 1 would be a core player. Sounds like a horrible idea, like last season's moves but far worse.
KP has always been very keen on the guy, and has gone out of his way to talk about his potential. I was talking about the medical retirement, which was KP and TP convincing PA. Yes he loved him some Rudy, especially after KP talked him up to no end. I remember listening to KP brag about going to Spain to scout Rudy, and how he knew a long time ago that Rudy was going to be a "special" player, he was right because Rudy is now a "special" needs player. Also KP has said many times that Rudy has the potential to be a "star" in the NBA. I like how you gloss over that whole silly chapter. It was stupid and KP got in front of the camera with his car salesman smile and talked about the "toxic" offer bullshit. Nice try slick. Well for one he traded Jack & the 13th for Bayless. That is a pretty bad trade in hindsight, and by "better pgs" I mean that you could have gotten a better PG with that package. I notice you totally avoided the whole Hedo mess. I like KP, he is a good GM. He is not a god, but some people think the dude is savior. They totally disrespect the fact that without PA's resources the majority of KP's moves would never happen. I am just saying the thumb is on scale for KP around here.
The way I heard it, Quick made it sound like a consolidation trade on our end. In other words, 2 or 3 of ours for 1 of theirs. I would surmise that it would be three of our average to better guys for an A-S quality player.
Well if the move is designed to save KP's job then it better involve getting back an all-star or near all-star with more potential and/or talent than LMA. Plus this player better have some tread on the tire, because LMA is still young.
Sure they do. But a lot of them don't feel that way, they feel as you do, they don't know what really happened, and feel from what they know it is not enough for him to be fired, and they are happy with his performance. Just because from what they know they don't think the dude should be fired, doesn't necessarily make them KP worshippers. I pretty much think the KP worship days ended when RLEC went out the window. I haven't seen anybody that is KP blind really since that happened. There was a long streak of luck and it seemed like KP was on a roll, the team on the upswing. Then it ended, and since then, most folks on this board, have been pretty skeptical of KP IMO. Not KP worshippers. So stop living in the past dude. The days of the KP worshippers on this board have been long gone for a while now.
I'm assuming that the deal would be to improve the Blazers instead of saving Pritchard's job, but then again, I'm probably just "Pritchblind" and not as knowledgeable as you seem to think you are.
