I'd rather have Aldridge and Turner than Batum and Favors, I think.

Or would I? Aldridge and Turner are older and Aldridge is WAY more expensive. I think I need to ponder this a bit. :)

Interesting. Aldridge is a little more proven then Batum, but no one can deny his potential, his shooting (will help to create spacing on the floor), and defense. If only the kid could improve is ball handeling, that would be awesome. I don't know which way I would lean, I feel Parker could help make Aldridge a little better, and though, he is not a true PG he is a master at getting to the rim so I feel like there will be open opportunities for Aldridge. I don't know, it is a tough call when discussing Parker.

That is a tough one, isn't it!

My (probably irrational) feeling is that Favors is going to be a monster, while Turner may be slightly over-rated.

Interesting thinking, and I think you are right about it being one of the few ideas that fits the hints. Utah might be at the point where they are thinking they can't go any further with this bunch
and might as well save some money and start over. I wonder if they couldn't find a better trading partner than the Blazers though.

After researching that trade with Utah a little more, I don't think there is a chance; according to RealGM Kirilenko only has one year left and his contract is so big that it would be almost impossible for Portland to match up. And Okur is pretty productive for his contract size so I don't really see them doing this.

Another thing, it seems almost any trade for an all star would need Pryzbilla's contact to make the money match and he isn't tradable until July 1st. So he wouldn't be available under Quick's hints and definitely wouldn't be able to be in a trade that would get us a draft pick back; unless the trade was arranged ahead of time with the other team drafting who we say, but I don't recall that ever happening in previous years.

Joel can opt in to his contract, I believe, at any time, and thus be tradeable.

If that's true, does that mean he could be tradeable before July 1st? I wonder if KP really does have something in the works and asked Joel if he'd do this now so he can go forward with his plans? Then again I don't know enough about the CBA to know if that's even possible under the current rules.

If he's opted into his last year, then I think Joel is tradeable right now. According to the CBA FAQ page: "Teams are free to make trades again once their season has ended, but cannot trade players whose contracts are ending or could end due to an option or ETO." Seem to me that once he exercises his option, he could be included in a deal.

I love all the speculation. You guys are pretty sharp.

I don't believe there is anything KP can do to keep his job.

RE the July 1 issue: Maybe KP puts a deal together in principle but is fired before it is consummated? Just another way of screwing the guy, Revenge of the Nerds style.

I'm hoping for a draft day blockbuster (I imagine we all are). I'd like a point guard, please. The Brand + #2 deal would be pretty sweet too.

Does it make sense we could have an agreement with Monty to send three of his favorites over in exchange for CP3?

Well, it could be conceivable that Philly wants to unload Brand so badly that they would throw in the #2 pick to make it happen....I would be surprised to see it happen, but it certainly has happened before....

If that was the case then POR could throw back expiring deals of Miller & Przybilla for Brand & #2.....Or maybe more likely they dangle Aldridge & Miller, get back Brand & #2, figuring that Collins would prefer to go with a more proven player in Aldridge than another young big man like Favors (or Turner)....and then POR could spin off the #2 to SA for Tony Parker & change (probably using Przybilla (expiring) and Webster....

Parker, Roy, Batum, Camby\Brand, Oden is an upgrade IMO.....sign a "shooter" with the MLE, a guy like Korver, Morrow or Redick, maybe M. Miller....then use thier draft pick on a young big like Soloman Alabi, Seraphin, Sanders, Whiteside, Lawal....maybe thier 2nd round pick as well....a guy like Samuels, Varnado, Booker, Caracter, Pittman, Zoubek........

Let's see...so it is very conceivable that you could have

PG: Parker, Bayless, Koponen (or Mills?) or a vet (Ridnour, Foye, Watson) signed with the bi-annual exception
    SG: Roy, Rudy
SF: Batum, M.Miller (MLE signing), Cunningham
    PF: Camby, Brand, Pendergraph
C: Oden, S.Alabi? (or H.Whiteside...w\1st round pick if C.Ford rumours are true)

add a second round guy like Willie Warren, Mikhail Torrance, Quincy Pondexter, Terrico White, Jordan Crawford or Da'Sean Butler?

    Resign J.Howard for 15th slot?

If we were to trade for the #2 pick, wouldn't we be selling ourselves a little short to swap it for Parker? He is only 28 next year, but he's played a lot overseas and in the post season, and has had some injuries the last few years and his productivity this last year really took a nose dive. If he loses a step, he's not nearly the player he is right now. He doesn't have great perimeter shooting or passing to fall back on.

I'd rather see us work out a deal where we get back Darren Collison from the Hornets and maybe something else. Much younger PG who can hit three pointers.

You've really become infatuated with the Philly-then-San Antonio trade haven't you?

That team blows. You have 2 capable shooters and a 15 million dollar wasteland on the bench.
