Exactly. And then we can just buy them back from New Orleans if we need them

    Hello darkness, my old friend
You're vastly overstating it. He's quite overpaid, but this is nothing like the Allen Houston or Eddy Curry contracts (or Jared Jeffries, or Theo Ratliff, etc), which were abominations. Okafor provides above average production and very good defense. He's actually a valuable player, even if he's not worth what he's paid. To get him and the best point guard of this generation for peanuts (from a talent perspective) is very, very worth eating the overpayment of Okafor.

If Pritchard could do this (and Allen would sign off on it) and he chose not to...I'd finally be in the "Pritchard needs to go" camp. Getting Paul and Okafor without giving up Roy, Oden or even Aldridge or Batum is as slam dunk as it gets. I'd even be willing to give up Aldridge to make it happen.

Too bad that trade isn't very realistic at all, which is part of my point. That trade only works if they're trying their absolute hardest to dump him, and then be crazy enough to do it. Not happening.

It would take something of value+big contracts from the Blazers to get Paul and Okafor's horrendous contract.

Probably not. In a dump mode, though, Okafor is definitely not a terrible price for Portland to pay.

I agree. And Portland doesn't have a lot that's valuable and cheap. Batum is about it, unless they like Bayless. Aldridge is the "major piece" I'm most willing to move and he makes little sense for New Orleans, not even being cheap.

Reddick instead of Miller and we're set for years.

There is a chance that Paul is asking to be traded. That would greatly up the chances of this happening. from .01% all the way to 2%.

Chris Paul is definitely worth taking any bad contract back. This team has been in search of a real PG since Porter left.

Didn't Roy mention Paul specifically as an example of a star PG he would not play well with. A problem I would happily love to see play out . . . but how ironic if Bayless or Miller or whoever is left starts bacause Roy is more comfrotable with that player vs. Paul.

Of course Blazers won't get paul and if they do he will no doubt start . . .jsut thought it was funny that Roy used him as an example of a player he wouldn´t blend well with.

No, Roy mentioned how well he played with Paul in the All-Star game. There is enough smearing of players here without completely representing what Roy said about Paul. I can't find his quote, but he said how much he liked playing with Paul in the 2008 AS game, and how easy the game was with Paul as the PG alongside him.

The article specifically states that Paul is available. Sure, he might more difficult to add than Collison, but I think the Hornets are in a different place after last season. Collison played VERY well, and he's only making like 1.5 million. The Hornets know they aren't going to win a Championship. They're a long way from contending again. It's very possible that they are thinking about moving Paul to get out from under some of their huge contracts, start Collison, and bring in a big free agent next summer. Hell, I might even do it for Collison. I think Okafor is still a decent player, and he isn't making THAT much money.

    Agreed.

With all of the teams that have cap space, they could simply trade Paul and take nothing back in return. I do not see them making a move until the start of free agency and think Collison is the player that gets moved.
