This Whole KP "Swingin' For The Fences" Thing.......

As I understand things, the only reason Vulcan is keeping KP on-board through the draft is so he won't potentially take all his "inside draft data/research" to another team. (??)

If that's truly the case, then how in the world would KP get PA to sign-off on any so-called mega-deal, or such. Moreover, why would any opposing GM want to do business with a lame-duck?? The more I think about it, none of it adds up.

That said, I sense a quiet draft for KP & Co.

 

I am not sure what being a "lame duck" has to do with anything. If K.P. is not here or not will not make a difference to another gm or not as long as they make the trade. I guess I do not understand why that matters...

 

PA will sign off on a trade if the trade makes sense. He is not going to turn down a good trade to spite KP.

Because it does not matter if KP is a lame=duck. He has players he can trade and they have players to trade. The point of a good trade is a win win situation. One side gets the best talent - the other side gets either talent at more positions or money savings or future talent. The point is that it is a business decision and not a personal one where opposing GM's would shun KP.

In fact, since everyone knows that KP needs a big trade, other GM's looking to make a big change may be looking even harder towards KP since they know he is game. Hopefully, they don't try to shaft him.

 

If you read Woj/Canzano, KP had always been widely recognized as a cocky son-of-a-gun around the league......and now acknowledged as such by the PTB management, themselves. Hence, they ALL want to stick it to him in his moment of weakness!

Snipped, because nothing else after that matters. Those are two of the most vindictive sports writers on the planet. Woj has had a personal vendetta against Pritchard for years. He has been using a single "unnamed" source (most think it's Mark Warkentein - who covets Pritchard's job) to bash KP.

Has Canzano ever quoted a named source? He makes a living making up shit and kicking the Blazers when they are down. It used to be the players, then it was the entire organization, now it's Pritchard. The guy is a fucking vulture. If everything is good in Blazer land, he's out of a job (he can only write so many sick kid tear-jerker columns a week). He's a professional shit-stirrer.

If these are the two sources you're using to "prove" Pritchard is a hated, cocky SOB, you may want to think again. Yeah, there may be one or two GMs (Warkentein) that are jealous, but how has KP been able to pull off a bazillion draft day trades over the last three years if all the other GMs refuse to deal with him? How did he convince the Clipps to trade us Camby for two bench players? It just doesn't add up. Trades happen when both sides agree to give up something the other wants. It's not about personal feelings and it's not about sticking it to a guy when he's down - that's the rumor mongering columnists' job.

Hey, I'm no Canzano apologist, but I'm just dumb enough to believe the KP jealousy mantra. From the crap I've seen coming out of Vulcanland, it makes at least a little sense. I might be the only one in here to believe it, but it's my opinion, nonetheless.

(BTW, I also buy into the notion that Dunleavy actually thought he'd be able to re-sign Camby this summer, hence, pilling the trigger on that trade......which, ultimately, may have gotten him the axe.)

 

I'm no fan of either Woj or Canzano, but I've been saying the same thing since before it was picked up on by mainstream media. People said I was crazy for thinking Pritchard is arrogant and that it could affect his ability to do his job effectively. Now that it's the widespread belief, those same people want to dispel it as a myth constructed and perpetuated by a few lone wolves.

 

If that's true then this organization is fucked. I've been holding out hope against hope that KP is on the hotseat for some kind of performance related issue because at least that is defensible as a decision rooted in the pursuit of a championship. If it's because of something as petty as simple jealousy then we've got no hope; any organization that thinks with its "heart" instead of its head is doomed to mediocrity, or at least a ton of volatility and probably not much ultimate success, because they'll constantly be stepping on their own dick.

 

I'm feeling it's at least partly this....in concert with KP's unyielding support of Penn...........essentially, the defiant and blatant fighting against City Hall.

 

That can't be true! My source says KP missed a important dungeon and dragon event at Paul's house. The next day, Paul called KP, but talked to Tom Penn instead who said KP hates dungeons and dragons, and Tom said he thought it was gay too. Tom Penn was fired on the spot and Larry Miller was then forced to play because he had a open spot. Larry has to find a GM that will play KP's Elf character every thursday THEN KP will be fired. The Vulcans need their dungeon and dragon fix all will do anything to keep their 30 years geek game going.

 

He's firing Pritchard because his feellings are hurt. I wouldn't label any scenario unreasonable with the manchild we have owning the Blazers. Rational thought isn't always going to win the day.

 

Pritchard hasn't done his job effectively? News to me.
