Again? Uh weird I could have sworn there was a pretty decent series with a 45 win team in 2008.

    Ferry resigned, he wasn't fired.

They will be lucky to win 30 games, but if Roy left here, how many would we win?

Great. He quit, and rumors are the owner didn't want him around anymore.

He's still unemployed, and he still failed in building a championship team with the best player in the world for 5 years. Plus, Roy got an extension with the Blazers with Pritchard as the GM, so that doesn't even make sense.

    What was your point?

With health, we'd have a winning record, and in a tougher conference.

Go down our roster and compare best player, 2nd best, 3rd best, etc. and tell me after LeBron > Roy where the Cavs have an advantage.

That's like saying KP wasn't fired, he was "relieved of his duties"

He "resigned" with one month left on his deal. Um...yeah...it was all his idea.

Yeah, I honestly don't understand what is going on in this thread. I suppose Gilbert could have fired him, but he was going to have to pay him anyhow, so may as well see if he'd work for you. To me, the logic seems pretty clear, but others (obviously) think there is some sort of major difference between Ferry quitting and Pritchard being fired. There is a small difference: Pritchard will still get paid for next year; had he quit, he would have lost that year on his contract. Ferry didn't have that option, and wasn't coming back, so he quit. How that makes his departure much different than Pritchard baffles me. Both were not wanted by their owners. That is the bottom-line.

Lol, next. I doubt he'll want to work for Paul Allen.

He resigned because he was told he should stop coming to work anymore. He preferred not to work for an employer who wasn't going to pay him.

So, really, it was philosophical differences.

I'm not a huge Ferry fan, but I think he'd be a reasonable hire.

I wonder why KP didn't quit, if Paul Allen is so evil, when GMs like Kerr and Ferry seem so willing to do so when they are tread upon by their owners?

Because he had another year on his contract? Money talks, and it's persuasive.

Because he'd be giving up ~$800k of contract money for next year, while Ferry and Kerr were playing out the string in their contract?

Seems like an obvious decision to me. Would you leave $800k on the table?

    You're totally right.

I'm drinking at the moment so thinking less clearly than normal. Which (in your opinion, especially) might really be saying something.

Humble Ed is fun! I have a movie to watch with the Mrs., so I won't get to enjoy him. ;)

It is odd that 3 out of the 16 playoff GMs have been let go, though, for whatever reasons.

I'm heading out in a few minutes. Maybe I'm just getting my humble on to reduce the odds of me getting my teeth kicked in at the club. Haha

Also weird that a lot of people wouldn't want 2 of those guys as Portland's GM.

I'm a little surprised that Kerr isn't generating more interest in Portland. He played here for a bit, he's well-spoken, and he got over a rough start to build a pretty good team with the Suns.

I'd be more interested in him than Ferry, personally.
