An NBA executive told The New York Times that, based on discussions with other team officials, he believes that LeBron James and Chris Bosh have already decided to sign with the Bulls.

In that case, James' meetings with teams this coming week would be merely a formality.

"I think it's a done deal," the executive said about James departing Cleveland for Chicago and taking Bosh with him.

The Bulls are not likely to hold room for two maximum-salary contracts once next season's salary cap is set, but they may be within striking distance of that goal.

Who plays SG? Who's the backup C and at guard?

Backup C is probably Asik. SG is LBJ with Deng at SF or somebody who can play D and hit open 3's and is willing to take a small deal. Raja Bell perhaps? Or they move Deng for Pietrus and Gortat.

Given all his chatter about "I'm not a cheap date" I'm kind of shocked Bosh is considered a sure thing to follow LBJ. Bosh is absolutely the third wheel in Chicago behind LBJ and Rose, at least from a marketing standpoint, (he's an equal partner on the court based on what he brings to the low post). But in Miami, Bosh is a close second assuming LBJ does go to Chicago.

I think the Bulls should use Bird Rights to sign Miller and go over the cap, after signing the two FAs.

Maybe Ray Allen would sign for vet minimum - he'd have a starting job FOR SURE, and a chance at a ring.

You may be right about having Birds rights to Miller. I hope so!

    Wouldnt mind having Allen! :D

LeBron at PG, Rose at SG, Deng at SF, Noah at C, Bosh at PF

Neither LeBron or Rose sits at the same time - the other plays PG or primary ball handler while the other sits.

Bench would be Taj, maybe Asik, and ideally Miller. Resign Murray as insurance and to play some G. We've got a pretty shitty bench, but 2 or 3 of Deng, Rose, LeBron, and Bosh could be out there at any one time.

It doesn't work like that. The bulls need to renounce the rights to all of their free agents to gain the cap room to sign the 2 max deals. It's also why the bulls can't go over the cap (whoops, I meant LT) this year even if they sign two max deals.

I don't think you have to renounce UFAs.

EDIT: Maybe you do, at least have to give up the Bird Rights.

Jon Rothstein, a reporter for the MSG Network, is reporting that Bosh to Miami is a done deal, and has been planned for a while.

There's a lot of misdirection going on now. I don't think anything is a done deal until July 8. There is also a need for franchises to misdirect the media so that they can ensure they are not whacked by the NBA for tampering.

Definitely, nothing's done yet. I hear very conflicting reports, mostly just random opinions.

The fact that LeBron's entertaining team visits means he wants to see what else plays out. Chicago has an edge if they can just get 3 million more, or some other trade.

Miami is a situation made for Bosh, IMO. I never could figure out why he'd be a guy for the Bulls, though he's a super player.

Like it or not, Joe Johnson fills that huge gaping hole left by us letting Gordon walk, and then trading Hinrich.

Id be equally happy with Johnson/Bron as I would be with Bosh/Bron. Although I wanted us to get a scoring big

I think it all depends on the deal: 15 million for four years isn't egregious if you're making a championship run, but I would hope for less. I'm not certain if Miami is tailormade for Bosh, but there does seem to have been much more consistent Bosh-to-Miami talk over the past couple of months and years, doesn't there? I wonder if the other marque free agents (Wade and Bosh) do not really want to play with Lebron.

I think they want to play with LeBron. Miami has historically been a great place for big men, especially under Riley and his coaches.

I think Bosh would clearly play with him. He certainly cares where LeBron signs, he said so personally.. Miami just has a lot of money and until the Kirk trade the Bulls were pretty much just a one-max signing (James).

Oh, and to address the bigger point, there's no way a deal is done. Beasley still plays for the Heat and Deng still plays for the Bulls. Neither of those would be true if everything was decided. Beasley can absolutely be moved. I know he has had all kinds of problems but he's still dropping fifteen and six in his second year. He's the type of player that can save a GM -- not so much in production, but a GM can point to him and say "Look, we have a future!" Deng may not be quite as marketable, but in this season when so many teams have so much cap space, I still think he can be moved with little salary in return. If Lebron was guaranteed to the Bulls or Bosh to Miami both of those moves would have been made.

Dunno.. I have this memory of what Boozer did to the other Paxson. And TMac. And the Kobe trade rumors. And the Gasol trade rumors.

I will say this: The organization has a horrible track record. But I wonder how much Derrick Rose means in attracting free agents. He gives us credibility and facilitates everything. Paxdorf better be thanking their lucky stars for winning the lottery.

Bosh would be better suited to play with Wade imo.
