I'm a little amazed that even Ed_O's last name has generated more discussion in this thread than the above.. Isn't this a little more important to Blazer fans than Brian Berger's resume?

You've got to be fucking kidding me!!!!!

    LOLZ!

Who does Brian Berger work for? Yet WE are the KP PR machine.

OK.... Lets say every bit of this is true, that actually makes Paul Allen inadvertently look like an even more incompetent owner and an even bigger failure.

He fired 2006 draft genius Steve Patterson to replace him with the incompetent guy who wanted Adam Morrison who had already been there 3 years... and then kept him around for 4 more years.

So back to back fuckwits have been hired by Allen and Co to run his team right?

Looking forward to their next bit of Vulcan magic. What's James Donaldson doing these days?

A statement enclosed in parenthesis usually indicates an aside or further explanation of the statement it is attached to. That is to say I only draw the conclusions listed given a certain condition, in this case if I assume Berger is telling the truth then "fill-in-the-blank."

I would bet anything that Steve Patterson is his "source."

So does knowing the meaning of the phrases "praise" and "a lot."

"Yeah, lilodders had a lot of nice things to say about Ed O. He told me he hired a lot of great people but none of them back him."

But that is a compliment - he hired a lot of skilled people, but unfortunately they didn't support like they should have. The compliment is to Pritchard for having the eye to hire skilled people, the slight is to the people who didn't support him as he (Berger, I believe) thought they should.

it starts off as one but ends in a slagging off.

BTW, this also doesn't add up in this giant pile of bullshit...

Let just say that KP hired great people who do all the scouting and recomendations, (By the way, all GM's do this) ...

who gives a fuck as long as the right players are brought in? Paul Allen fired KP because Eric the scout wasn't getting enough credit?

The link in the opening post only covers 1 hour 7 minutes of what I think was a 4-hour show. It's Brian Berger, who has worked for the team.

Allen flew in from Kenya for the draft.
Bert Kolde loves to fire people.
Steve Gordon has been the liaison between Allen and Pritchard since the split, which happened just before Allen stopped sitting with Pritchard.
If Pritchard had fired his agent after his agent said the Penn firing was a drive-by, Pritchard might have repaired some bridges with his superiors and saved his job.
He was the lowest paid GM in the NBA [my note: source? did 30 GMs confide their pay to Brian Berger?]
Pritchard and Penn were not superclose. Penn sometimes make Pritchard look incompetent in front of others by calling him out on the carpet [me: about cap matters, I assume].
Pritchard did not orchestrate the Roy and Aldridge trades in the war room. Pritchard wanted Morrison instead of Roy.
Brian said Patterson said in the interview the other day that Pritchard modernized how Blazers evaluate players.
Patterson said, and Brian agrees, that Pritchard has gotten both undeserved credit and undeserved blame for various things he didn't do.
Some players had conflicts with Pritchard. The rest had no special love for him. After Roy found out that Pritchard had wanted Morrison, Roy had a chip on his shoulder from then on, but kept the relationship professional.
At the workout before that 2006 draft, Roy and Gay were dominating Morrison, Quick spied on them, and Pritchard was paranoid because he wanted Morrison. Soon there were new security rules about when the media could come into the media room. The media blamed Patterson, but it was mostly Pritchard.
On the morning of the 2006 draft, Patterson called a meeting of scouts including Pritchard, and outlined how they would trade for Roy and Aldridge. Not all agreed. Pritchard made the Sergio trade/purchase [Allen wanted Sergio, but Brian didn't say whether Pritchard did too.]
Pritchard didn't discover Batum or Sergio. Jason Filippi did and orchestrated Rudy's signing. He used to be agent, speaks 5 languages, works out of Italy, and is the best international scouting director in the NBA.
Pritchard didn't disperse the credit. This made others who deserved some credit dislike him.
Pritchard was not always professional. Brian says he'll leave it at that. [I assume he means the cheerleader girlfriend.]
For GM, Ferry is very high on the list. Anyone with LaGuerie as agent won't be considered, like Kiki.
Pritchard was not well-liked by other GMs. Some felt him arrogant, and some felt that if they had his advantage of Allen's money they could do better.
David Griffin is being considered for GM. He has basically run the operations for the Suns for a few years, and has been there 18 years. He was essential to the success of Colangelo and Kerr.
Brian makes an editorial. Wayne Cooper went to his high school. He was and is Petrie's right-hand man in Portland and Sacramento. The Blazers should look at him.
Allen gets rid of GMs after 2-5 years. [me: Whitsitt lasted 9 years.]
Brian predicts lots of changes in the next 12 months. Nate's days are numbered. Vulcans think his offense not creative, he doesn't make in-game adjustments, wonder whether he's the guy to take this roster to the next level. If added as assistants, Bickerstaff or Lynum could become Interim Coach if by the all-star break something goes wrong. McMillan is on a tightrope with the Vulcans.
Brian talked to someone this week who thinks Roy has 2-3 good yrs left, and will become as injured as Arenas.
Brian's editorial: We can't count on Aldridge (doesn't have it), Oden, or Roy (injuries) to win a championship. We need a cornerstone. He would trade anyone other than Roy and Batum.

Gen. McChrystal resigned, too. Do you really think all resignations are the idea of the person resigning?

I hope this part is true--its the one thing the Vulcans are right to keep an eye on. McMillan's offense is not creative (as we've been saying on the boards for some time now). I just hope we don't fire Nate if there's not a better coach to hire. He's a top 10 coach in the league--we better get a coach above him if we do fire him. If we can't then I say stick with Nate until we can...

I've caught his radio show at least a dozen times over the years. I've always enjoyed it and have been surprised at some of the guests he's had on there. It's funny how some people (BGrantFan) are going ape shit over what Berger said on his most recent show.

No, your take was that Ferry was somehow above Pritchard because he resigned while Pritchard was fired. You said my logic was lacking.

Please answer how my logic was lacking in saying that both were unwanted by their owner, and both are now unemployed.

I'm not sure how me disagreeing with your faulty logic makes me a troll.

I think it's funny some people are going to eat up every word of it as the truth.

I think it's a steaming pile. Maybe I'm giving Paul Allen too much credit.

"The Legend of KP" was built up by Quick, Canzano and a few other local reporters. This audio just goes to show that Pritch never spread the credit around to others in the organization. Now when Allen wants to fire the GM, he's also in the unfortunate situation of firing the media-created figurehead in the process.
