The third team would want Paul, not facilitate. So probably not, no.

Haha. You're not breaking a rule, my man. You simply said you gave an obvious opinion, so we wondered what it was. Relax...the cops haven't been contacted.

If Portland did it...I'd be cautiously optimistic. I don't think I could pull the trigger on that, as much as I love Paul. I think Oden is going to be a monster center and Batum is going to be a fantastic all-around wing. I want Paul to play with them, not instead of them.

But if the deal were done, there's a lot more certainty to a Paul/Roy/Aldridge core, so I couldn't hate it.

Well I think Oden can be a monster too, but I am really questioning his health. On one side I am glad he isn't having reoccuring injuries in the same place/chronic injuries, but on the flip side, it concerns me that he had his latest injury, well only God knows how. The fact he made no contact other than the ground deeply concerns me. Lets just say I have not given up on Oden and if he is still here come training camp I will be cheering him on like every other Blazer fan, however, when it comes to potentially acquiring a top 5 player in this league, I would deal Oden, run away with and hopefully don't have to look back.

What's with all this doomsaying over that kneecap splitting? Now IF his bones are congenitally brittle that's a problem, you could argue there is evidence for that. However, the injury in question was caused by him:

BEASTING THE FUCK OUT WITH MONSTER QUADS OF DEATH!!!

So really the no contact thing is irrelevant. His bone strength however might be. There might very well be dietary things he could do (goats milk, lots of certain green veggies, supplements) that could strengthen his bones.

Or he could go all Kung Fu on that ass and beat his bones against wooden posts and shit until he's a total bad ass.

On second thought lets skip on that last idea.

Seriously though, they are all different injuries. He's due for a healthy period. I swear to god I will burn the Vulcan Offices to the ground if we trade him for someone less then CP3/LeBron/Wade and he blows up into the player I know he will be.

I don't think any center we have/had is due for a healthy period. If he is, great6. I am still concerned and would trade him for Paul without blinking.

Exactly, taking back long-term money sorta defeats the purpose. This afternoon, I was casually looking at under caps teams ability to put forth an offer better than our Chad Ford reported one. I guess it ultimately depends on the financials. Are the salary savings better than the probable lost revenue in ticket sales? That could be an advantage for Portland, because Miller/Pryzbilla promise savings one year later, but also help keep the team competitive. Also, I'm not sure if Paul has right of refusal clause in his contract?

NJ- - they could absorb both Okafor and Paul. The best prospects package they could offer is Lee and Favors. That's probably pretty comprable to Batum/Bayless. However, would Paul want to go there with only Lopez and Okafor? They'd have no cap room left for another free agent. Would N.O. agree? Their team would be awful next year and ticket revenue would suffer.

NY-- I think Curry is in his last year, so he's essentially the bargaining chip Pryzbilla/Miller are. So, they could trade him, take back Paul/Okafor and still have room to sign another top notch free agent. Paul might be down for this. They have no prospects other than Gallinari. Again, it leaves N.O. really depleted next year. Worse than the NJ proposal.

Chicago -- They could absorb both Paul/Okafor, and I think due to the Hinrich deal, might be able to sign another top free agent. Paul would probably embrace the deal with Rose/free agent. Noah is about the only prospect they can offer.

Clippers-- They could absorb both, and they could put together a Griffin/Gordon package. Not sure if Paul is hot for this. He really only has Kaman and Baron to help him.

Miami-- Provided they resign Wade, they'd have to additionally package players to take back Paul/Okafor. Beasley is their best prospect package.

T-Wolves-- Could only take on Paul, although any package including combinations of Love, Brewer, Flynn, Rubio, Johnson could probably trump ours. Not sure Paul would like it though.

Thunder-- Collison is on his last year, they can take back some salary. They can dangle Harden/Green. This could make some real sense for all parties. If they just packaged Westbrook alone, that might be worth it too.

Kings-- I think they could absorb both, and could offer a package of Thompson/Cousins/Landry. Not sure if Paul would be down with what's left.

Wash-- they could absorb both, but thin on prospects with Blatche/McGee.

** Again, I guess it depends on if the salary savings outweighs the revenue loss. That's difficult to estimate. If they wish to remain somewhat competitive, than I think our offer is better than nearly anything those teams can propose, other than the Thunder. Of course, if any of those teams start tossing unprotected future lottery picks, that changes things too.

Hmm, this could motivate a trade. Now it's not just a matter of paying Paul (and Okafor and Posey)...he wants them to spend even more. That might push Shinn over the edge in terms of the financial value of keeping Paul.

    Hope so!

I think we are near the top if we offer Oden and Batum. If it is either or, then I don't know. I am not saying this to take shots at you since I know your stance on trading both, but rather, I think that is near what it would take to beat other teams potential offers.

If this is true, I honestly don't think its worth it. I believe that if we can get a solid pure PG a la Steve Blake and a healthy Oden we don't need an all-star PG. OTOH I would trade everybody but Roy and G O for CP3!

Nothing is set in truth, I just imagine that is what we would have to give up to get the best PG in the game today (or second best depending on peoples views between him and Deron).

I hear you. Here's what I think we should do. Find the OJ Mayo's and Stephen curry type rookie contracts and swing a deal to get them plus expirings for LMA and add that to the AMEC, JPEC + filler package. We could also ask for draft picks. Load up on what NOH wants and if possible avoid trading Batum by leveraging Aldridge into players and contracts NOH wants. If you have to add Batum as the cherry on top.

    Rastapopulous get on this!

Chakalaka and I will provide comedic relief in the meantime. ;)
