Via the Twitter Feed of Brian Windhorst of the Cleveland Plains Dealer:

I dont think it means anything. If he announced that he was staying or leaving the camp would be overrun with media commitments. But talk about scheduling fail? You couldn't see this coming?

I thought this was gonna happen because I heard on espn that he might decide before the camp, but I thought of it as, why would he do that when that would be a media nightmare? Especially if he's leaving cleveland? So the only questions he MAY get are "where have you decided to go?" but it wont be as bad if he'd made his decision before. But yea, this is a big timing fail.

I think if he was staying he would announce if BEFORE the camp. Wouldn't you think?

I'm sure they planed the camp date for this reason. If he leaves, the camp underscores his local ties and how he remains committed to Ohio. If he stays, they can talk about how the kids influenced his decision. All of this posturing is making me tired, though.

I don't know. The Bulls said they wanted the process finished early two months ago. They must have had this in mind. The longer time goes by, the more Free Agents the Bulls have bird rights to will sign elsewhere. Is Brad Miller and Ronald Murray going to sign elsewhere like Hakim Warrick? Probably. Neither of them are world beaters but they are nice options to have, especially if you can only otherwise offer vet minimums to fill out your roster.

The Bulls renounced all their Bird Rights to maximize cap space.

My bad. I remember Larry Coon answering a question on Twitter that seemed to imply so. Perhaps they were speaking about sign and trades.

The Akron Camp is apparently an invite national Nike camp. Players come from all of over the country, not just from Ohio. This changes things for me a little bit. It's probably more likely that LJ just wants time to plan a formal press conference, not so much that he doesn't want to address hords of angry local children.

Given how he's not made a media circus of his free agency, he may well be keeping the spotlight off himself so it can shine on the kids.

I hurt my back and then I went on vacation to grand haven, mi, and couldn't even get a single bar on my cell phone. Also no running water the first night. It was grand

And damn straight he's a jackass. I hate that stupid talc and all the dancing around and even though I think Noah was sort of pointless to start talking about it, I sort of liked that he didn't like sitting there and taking it.

I dunno, I think this mildly increases the chance he's leaving. He must think he'll be run out of town if he announces first.

The Knicks trip to Akron tonight is to make a solemn undertaking that they replace the talc with primo Bolivian blow from Alec Baldwin's personal stash before every home game

So I guess this helps the Bulls then?

If not the end of the moratorium period (July1-July 8) is just a reasonable time frame to make decisions.

My initial response was the reverse -- that he may be trying to screw the Bulls by dragging this out. I'm back to thinking it means nothing. The Cavs and Heat can't do anything until the big three commit anyway. We may be losing out on Amare, but we were never that interested in him to begin with. As long as Boozer waits they can basically take as much time as they want.

Well I've heard that we have Boozer if we want him.
