For Soccer shirt, get an Arsenal Shirt, if you wanna look like a typical glory hunter buy a manchester united shirt. Don't ask for details wikipedia it.

    things you don't want.

Man U shirt - First off, their sponsor is AIG, do you really want to walk around a recession with a shirt that has the name of one of the biggest, most hated companies involved in causing the recession? Also, rooting for Man U is like growing up in Iowa and deciding you are a Cowboys fan, or a Yankees fan. Might as well just only buy the #1 song on itunes every week and then brag about your "killer mp3 collection"

Arsenal - for the love of god no. Imagine if the Mets moved to the Bronx and pretended to be the Yankees and called themselves a Bronx team. You'd think they were douche bags, and you'd be right. Also, you know how when you see an IROC-Z or an Ed Hardy bedazzled hat, you know something about the person who owns it, before they even speak, well, the same applies to Arsenal "fans". Most Arsenal fans in the states know less about soccer than people who have never seen it. It was a trendy pick for a while, but it's all a bit trite now.

Liverpool - I guess like the Celtics or Lakers of the Premiership. Lost of titles, obnoxious fans. And I mean obnoxious fans. Fans that burgle their own players while they are on away games. Fans that show up without tickets to matches and cause major catastrophes then blame EVERYONE else. But a cool looking shirt, a good sponsor and a lot of good history.

Manchester City - just don't. they sold their soul to an oil sheik and are trying their best to buy a title (they can't even buy 4th place).

Chelsea - historically boring team funded by sketchy russian money. Bought a few titles, will buy a few more. Good looking shirts though.

I'd have your parents avoid getting you a jersey, basically. or, Get this years England shirt. Terrible team, but a fantastic jersey. Or go for a lower league team that won't make you look like a tool while wearing it.

Or fuck it, tell them to pick up an Everton, Aston Villa, Fulham or Tottenham shirt. Just avoid all the kind of shirts that are sold in airports.

I'd say that's pushing it. You know, we are the 3rd most successful team in English football, we ain't too far away from the top. But I agree about Manure United and Liverpool. But please don't ever advise anyone to buy shit like tottenham, they easily fit in the same bracket as man shitty. Small club with big club mentality.

    Would you like a L*ker, Y*nkee or C*wboy t-shirt?

Have them bring back a set of pint glasses with the crown etched in them. I stole my set from a series of Fuller-associated pubs.

I think it is funny that so many American soccer fans root against ManUre because they are the "New York Yankees of soccer." Most of these nerds just picked another team in the top 6 or so to support, and most picked Arsenal.

They already got me a Cowboy's jersey and hat a few years back, lol. Cowboys have been my team since I was old enough to know what football was.

None of the soccer shirts or kits or hogswankles were doing anything for me so I told my mom to get me the Clash's London Calling t-shirt. Should make for some interesting stories when they get home.

This thread is full of so much fail.

    Who is this aimed at?

Liverpool have a cool sponsor? Standard Chartered Bank must be hip! Goes to show how much you know about football, eh?

Some people I know/met. No one on this board :)

I think the Arsenal bandwagon exploded because the Gunners were so fucking awesome just as (2000/2005) footy was really gaining mass exposure on cable TV here in the states. Fox Sports World/Soccer Channel blew that shit up! Arsenal was the most entertaining team to watch back then and as a result they gained lots of fans.

Ah, good point, forgot they lost Carlsberg. Not sure it makes me know less about about football, maybe less about the contracts of Liverpool's sponsors....

I never really noticed that but I guess you're right. Arsenal tend to get a lot of shit in England seeing as we're a generally 'foreign' team, so I'm probably used to being the lone fan.

Picked up the parents from the airport this past weekend,

    got this - [IMG]

I guess it's last years so they got it for half price, HAHAHAHA!

and this really nice St Helens Rugby League sweat shirt,

kind of looks like this but it has a white collar instead of the red in the picture.

The rugby sweatshirt is pimp, great quality, nice and soft and thick.

Thanks for all of your help.

I didn't pick them out. I was telling the parents not to get me anything. To be honest I'm not real wild about the Man U shirt but I'd diggin' the St Helens sweatshirt just because it's really nice and it's Blazer colors. Don't know shit about them but I'll wear it. So is St Helens any good at Rugby?
