Trade makes sense only if we get James, if not we keep Deng

Trade only makes sense if Batum is traded for a Premier PG

lol, guess we would both have a logjam at SF if not for otherdeals

Not trying to sell Deng on you, but he can play limited time at PF

I like Deng but at backup PF we do have camby/pendegraph and cunningham if we want to go small. The deal for Deng gives us a great scorer off the bench but I dont' like the fact it will give nate a reason to not play Batum for 30+ minutes.

It's not Chris Paul, but it's certainly not a bad deal. Any three-team deal where Portland lands (by far) the best player can't be all bad.

Maybe we run Batum at backup PG some. I could see us going with Batum/Roy/Deng at 1/2/3, provided we handle being pressed reasonably well.

Given Roy and Batum's injury history so far, having a third guy you can plop into that starting SF spot isn't a bad idea.

I still think Bayless has a bright future ahead of him. But Deng is more of a sure thing. With our championship window starting to crack open (hopefully) we should be going for "sure things" over "bright futures".

Rip's not a 3pt shooter, but he does play well off of the ball. still has 3 years left on his contract. And with Bayless, BG would still be the third best SG on the Pistons. At least now he'll be the highest paid SG, until Stuckey signs his extension...

I don't really agree with that. First, Batum can play backup shooting guard. He can defend SG's and he can sure as hell shoot on the other end. Second, although I was a huge proponent of Batum getting more minutes last year, in retrospect I wished he'd played less during the regular season. His shoulder was pretty bad.

At PG, SG and SF, there are 144 possible minutes. With Miller, Roy, Batum and Deng, there's 36 mpg for each of them, assuming that when Miller subs out Roy takes on the major ball-handling role (and vice versa).

Obviously with injuries even more playing time will be available.

This trade happens only if we get LeBron. It makes sense for us.
