Blakey would've been a nice fit there if he wanted to play for the minimum or close to it, and be closer to home. But too late. It'll be interesting to see who they fill out the roster with and who wants to take the minimum to play for a title.
It is tough for me to believe that only 3 players can win a ring. The other players are gonna be straight up SCRUBS!
Can someone make a list of players who played for the vets minimum last year? That would be really enlightening as to what type of talent will be around them.
Weren't the Lakers in a similar situation when they signed Shaq away from Orlando, and Jerry West traded away nearly everyone for nothing, and had to fill out their roster with scrubs? I seem to recall they got some nice role players to fill around Shaq. I think Miami will get some nice fillers for the vet's minimum.
If they're smart, they'll get a lot of thirty-somethings--high BBIQ guys who simply know the right play to make most of the time. I have a feeling that they're going to get a lot of young guys instead.
There was some pretty good players surrounding Shaq. http://www.lakersuniverse.com/seasons/1996_1997_roster.htm
I'm telling you they need to bring Reggie Miller, Glen Rice and Steve SMith out of retirement and just have them sit in the corners and BOMB AWAY!
Oh alright. I don't think that would happen cause people would think he just couldn't make up hismind so he's giving his friends a one year trial.
Here's the type of players they're looking at who played for the minimum last year: Joe Smith Juwan Howard Shelden Williams Ben Wallace Michael Finley Theo Ratliff Jason Collins Jarron Collins Sean May Anthony Carter Ime Udoka Keith Bogans Tim Thomas Ike Diogu Jamaal Magloire
