The Bulls just signed Ronnie Brewer...3 years/12.5 million. They are just fleecing the Jazz! Sloan might go back there and coach next season!

Allow me to remind you that Sloan had 2 head-coach positions in the NBA. One for the Jazz east, one for the Jazz west.

I think I'd rather have Brewer at that price than what we paid for Matthews. Just sayin'...

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Me too, without question. I'd rather have him than Matthews at the price we paid for Matthews, let alone at that price.

    Hopefully, the Blazers picked right.

That's why I said he would "go back there".

Brewer last played for Memphis, by the way.

For most teams, I'd agree. Brewer is better in just about every category, except one critical one: three point shooting. Matthews takes and makes them, while Brewer is so bad at it he doesn't even try.

Nate showed at the beginning of last season he'd rather start a clearly inferior PG (Blake) over Miller simply because of this one stat. If we added Brewer, I have a funny feeling he just wouldn't see much floor time. Given the current GM vacuum, I wouldn't be surprised if it was Nate who really pushed for going after Matthews over Brewer.

And the truth is I'm not sure I disagree with the reasoning. I want role players who help us get the most out of our stars. Roy and Oden (and really Miller this past year) are our stars. Those guys need three point shooters around them to be the most effective. So you give up a little productivity in the individual role player to get the most productivity out of the star.

It's the shooting, no doubt. And given the Bulls' lack of shooters, they'll probably be wishing they had Matthews. Kyle Korver's value to the Bulls will be disproportionate to his REAL value.

Thanks for the inside info my friend. I brought this up because when you think of Ronnie Brewer 99.9999% of people associate him with the Jazz not the Grizz. Thanks again for the heads up.

I guess they could "fleece" Mark Eaton away as well since most associate him with the Jazz too?
