I'm sure Steve Patterson would love for you to think that.

:dunno: Telfair and Webster are all on Nash, but he gets credit for Roy and Aldridge. Very convenient.

For all the times I was critical of KP, I find this notion that he deserves zero credit for anything very weird.

I'm not saying KP doesn't deserve the credit (and I think it's overwhelmingly likely he DOES deserve it), but Nash was GM when Telfair and Webster were selected. There WAS no GM for the Roy/Aldridge draft, so it's possible that Patterson--not KP--was calling the shots in the draft room. Much moreso than that Patterson overrode Nash during previous drafts.

Steve Patterson WAS GM for the 2006 draft.

Patterson was being let go after the draft, just like KP. None of us will ever know for sure who was the mastermind, or took the lead in the 2006 draft, but Patterson was in fact GM at that time

If any of this is true it would have been much quicker to hand them all a measuring tape, and send them to the toilets.

But we all know Greg would have won that contest.

yup. SP was the GM during the 2006, thats a fact. But he parted ways with the Blazers in March 2007 which is quite different then KP's parting

btw... I recall both Patterson and KP claiming that draft was based on group decisions. They shared credit with each other, ownership, scouts, and coaches in coming up with who they collectively targeted. But who pulled off the actual wheeling and dealing on draft day was Patterson. They didn't all work the phones maneuvering, one guy did. I recall KP specifically crediting Patterson for pulling off the deals that landed them their targets
