Yeah, Luke was on the verge but left a pretty good impression the last couple games. And the biggest disappointment could've been Patty but Pendergraph set the bar pretty high with his claims to be SL MVP.. He didn't really come close, and big men hardly thrive in SL anyway.
I like Jeff's hustle and his intensity, but he's a wooden man out there on offense and his post defense is nothing to write home about either ... He'll be on the roster in the fall, but he looks like 13th man material right now.
Babbit is going to be more than fine. Kid has size, he shoots well, he has handles, he can pass. This is never going to be a makeup for the Webster over CP3/Deron - but I think we got a little back - we minimized that mistake a little with that trade. I will repeat what I said after the 3rd game - if he is as slow, confused and looking out of sync as he is and yet he still manages to average double-digit scoring without being a ball-dominant guard - kid has a good future ahead of him.
Spreadsheet shows Green and Terry deserved more minutes. Terry and Ibekwe were #2 and #3 in eff/min. Reyshawn Terry has been unnoticed all series. Krabbenhoft broke his string of leading all but 1 game in +/- per minute, so he was no. 1 in the middle 3 of the 5 games. In my opinion, the overriding story is that our last 2 Summer League teams have been ruined by Bayless hogging the ball. This was much more fun to watch, and a much better team. Finally, there was no leader who lacks the talent to pass off on his drives, and who thinks that he's there to dominate his teammates.
I think we got that impression because of Bayless. I think it's somewhat true, but a lot less true than we saw in 2008 and 2009.
Mills may garner criticism, but he's 10 times the PG and leader that Bayless was. Okay, I'll shut up about Bayless. Except: I'm sorry that Mills didn't look better, because now we have to get rid of him instead of Bayless to get down to 6 guards. My roster had been showing that Rudy and Bayless will be the ones to go. Okay, now I'll shut up about Bayless.
Yes, it was nice to see Babbitt have a good game. He might be a productive player for us this year or next. I thought Pendergraph actually did a good job. He has no offensive repertoire, but he's tough and he rebounds.
