Wow really Wade? Shut your face :smiley-whatever: I hope the HEAT fail big time.

According to the link in the OP that's Wade's quote, not the 1st one. If it's this way and not the 1st way then he's actually not a saying anything wrong IMO. Saying that the media/fans will act like the world is ending after a team that stacked loses 3 or so games in a row is pretty damn accurate.

Well they must have just updated it because I saw the same thing posted on multiple NBA forums. They knew it's fucked up so probably just damage control.

At the top of the Article in your link it now reads

"Editor's Note: This article has been updated from a previous version in which Dwyane Wade was misquoted. We deeply regret the error."

    http://nba.fanhouse.com/2010/07/18/heat-supporting-cast-has-become-better-than-expected/

    So yea, it's been updated.

Dwayne Wade has always come off as smarter than your average player, I think the media/fan overreactment quote is much more believable than him thinking it's the end of their season if they drop a few games.

Well that's a pretty damn big misquote then, one that would offend a lot of people.

People need to lighten up. It was clear that he was simply saying that the media and fans would freak out if they started to lose.

Normally I wouldn't care but that was just rude and classless. 3500 people lost their lives that day, he could have thought of a better analogy.

Yeah, but it's the backlash from things like this that make the players not want to open up to the media. Trust me, I've interviewed enough NBA players to know that most of them are scared shitless of saying something that will come back to bite them in the ass, so they all repeat the same boring, regurgitated, rehearsed answers to every question thrown at them. Cut them some slack. He didn't have any malicious intent behind the statement.

I bet you are right. World Trade? With caps, that doesn't make any sense. World Trade Center that makes sense. If he had said the economy that would make sense. This sounds like a damage control lie where someone said something off the top of their head without thinking about it and then folks moved in to try and change it. Stupid sure but, I could see how someone might say that being excited. I've heard people make 9/11 refrences of that sort and then usually called on it by someone. This re-quote looks questionable to me. Just my opinion.

Wade is right. This board is in meltdown mode if the Blazers are down at halftime of a game.

Perspective - the other white meat.

Wade and LeBron are now officially assholes as far as I'm concerned. On Twitter, LeBron is going on about staying at the top when they haven't even gotten to the top. Wade calls them the greatest threesome ever and now he says this. I rooted for Wade in 06. I rooted for LeBron every year. But they're acting like jerks now. Bosh seems like a cool guy but that's not enough for me to not HATE this team. I officially hate them more than the Lakers. I hope Gilbert Arenas goes to the Cavs and punks the Heat in the first round.

I agree. It's a little pathetic seeing people jump at every chance to justify hating LeBron and the Heat for wanting to win.

I like Jordan's and Bird's comments. Both of them said they would never have thought to join someone to try and win. But then again, those guys are TRUE champions.

I agree. It's pretty clear James is not that type of player though, but I can't hate him for that. He's the league's best player at 25 but lacks that killer gene -- maybe he realized that, and took less money and also the biggest risk of the big 3 in order to win and be happy. I don't see anything wrong with that.
