So who do we all think should be the guy? Experienced guy like Sund, or talent evaluator like a Buchanan
Don't take this the wrong way, but are you being sarcastic? Cho is a salary cap expert, he's handled contract negotiations, he's a stats guy, it sounds like all he really needs is maybe somebody to help ID talent or somebody that has a good rapport with other GM's around the league -- assistant GM doesn't feel like a tremendously critical position when he's got good scouts like Buchanan and Born (plus Jason Filippi, et al.) to advise him.
Word on the street is that it's SlyPokerDog. I don't think it's official yet (probably working out last minute salary details) but an announcement is imminent.
I'm just waiting for PA to fly me out to his private yacht for the interview. (Man, what a crazy story about Cho. Interviews with Larry Miller in Vegas and then is flown my private jet to Helsinki to meet with Paul Allen on his yacht. Only the Net's owner can flash that kind of bling.)
Larry Miller has absolutely no interest in being the GM. His interests lay elsewhere. And by elsewhere I mean one step higher than his current position.
You have no opinions, other than your opinions about my opinions. Care to wager on an outside assistant GM being brought into the team? Born or Buchanon may be elevated to that role, but they will basically serve their same purpose, IMO.
Neither Miller nor Cho has ever exhibited any ability whatsoever in the talent-recognizing department, so that is ALL I'd want from an assistant GM, 24/7.
I have plenty of opinions, I just don't smother the board with them constantly. I don't think Born or Buchanon will be put into that role, I think it will be someone that Cho chooses.
An outside GM was brought in to run the team after KP got fired. His job is done now and he is leaving but will most likely consult with the team from time to time.
I think it will be someone that Larry Miller/Paul Allen choose, if anyone at all. But that's just my horrible opinion.
